I too disagree with the PvE sentence. I think WAR makes PvP palatable for those who have stuck to PvE games (I am one such person). In WAR the PvP is RvR, so you are always with your comrades and not alone being ganked. There is a reason for the wars and the RvR is fun.

Likewise, WAR is great grouping for those who usually play solo. WAR makes it so easy for everyone to join in and play together (PQs, scenarios, RvR, Open Groups) that usually people do play in groups, even if they are inclined to solo in other games.

WAR has changed the way I play. I was PvE and solo, now I am RvR and in open groups.

I too disagree with your remarks about PvE. There is just as much, if not a lot more of classic PvE content to enjoy in Warhammer, as in WoW or LotRO. It's bugfree, tells the lore of each racial pairing and a ton of fun. PQs are the equivalent of group quests and they are extremly awesome. Most can be done by a small group of 3-6 man. Some are for warbands and truely epic largescale battles take place.

All in all, Warhammers 'classic' PvE content is just as good, as seen in other games, like WoW or LotRO and PQs just blow their shit out of the water! Dungeon wise, I've only done the sewers in Altdorf. Nothing to write home about, but some of the bosses are already quite the challenge.

In addition, your criticism is about the players. I personally am quite good in rallying people to band together. More often than not, I get a warband going and lead them from one PQ to the next and eventually end up beating the 'hard' warband PQs, which are a ton of fun.

Also, if you take the time, to read up on the lore of the chapters and the quests, that's just great and adds a ton of depth to the PvE content. It's all about the lore!

Obviously, I am madly in love with this game and I know, it will only get better, the longer WAR goes on! So, give PvE a second look. Especially since most of the more 'classic' dungeon experiences start around tier 3 with the faction-instanced 'Mount Gunbad'.

There is sooo much content, WAR is such a broad experience, any review this early is a mere first impression and nothing near to the real thing. But I apprieciate your effort. Your writeup is a good read and I agree overall, except with your remark about the PvE portion of the game. It's like you needed to have low-point in your review to get some cred. ;P

Great Overview, you pretty much covered all the goodness of this game

one other thing that people should know, is that they should try WAR not cuz' it's RvR or has pretty god PVE, but b/c it's a really interesting game; it's fresh air in the MMO Universe

and surely i understand people from EVE Online mass avoiding this title, cuz the RvR in warhammer will never EVER put you in the edge of destroy all your hard work

You don't drop your thingies, and enemy won't get from your death nothing more than some Renown Points

but oh ... this title is pure golden for me

putting off the fanboisme, maybe it's time to look at things that should be implemented

1) Clock - gimme an ingame clock come on ! ... there are addon out there, but i want a WAR Race themed clock, oh yeah -

2) Farm - PQ are farm, call in whatever taste you want, but it's farm, so why don't get more Influence from Pq stage to take off the farm ?

3) Queues - They need to be fixed, i play on EU server and i tell ya that Karak Azgal has 600+ peeps queueing in the afternoon, but the worst scenario is Karak- Eight Peaks .... 800+ people queuing

also Eight Peaks, and Azgal are the first server being offline for some hours in need of further repair

Mythic gave Cloning servers, i have no experience at all qith this thing, so i'm searching some review/overiviews onto the standard cloned server situation ( got population ? are funny ? ); anyway i think it's a great idea, and GOA should try that too imho

3) Client/server Stability - the client is pretty much a virgin; oh gosh only 4 days of release and ( for me ) it's like a huge lapse of time ... dunno why.
The Client is Heavy; the Minimum spec for WAR are not real ... you should have a better Video card Memory and an 0.5/1 Gb more Ram ...
Also the Servers usually kick people out; you stay on queue for 2 hours, play for 1 and get dc, and i say THIS thing need to be fixed

Many people are asking for a " grace on the disconnection period ", it means that if i get dc i have - likely - some minutes to get in and avoid requeuing myself

many other people, on the other hand, are storming the WHA forums harming anyone and trying to get people out of the servers, rerolling in others ... so everyone should be " fine " - yeah but who is "finest " ? Whom stay or whom leave and need to reroll from 0 ?

Also the client got some memory leaks using Windows Xp - seems -, cuz a lot of people try to get their Ui layout settings ( edited layout ) recorded .... but nothing seems to change; relogging, your Ui come back as normal

i think i pretty much sid everything, WAR is a little vergin, and the client is getting raped by 1+ million of ugly marauders .... but they need only some fix and should be the ERA of war

Oh my gosh ... fanboi insideeee

To follow up I just want to say that I have heard and read many people say they are not going to try WAR because all it is is PVP. This is not true at all. A more accurate opinion would be that If you dislike PVP then maybe War isn't for you.

Even then its nice that they have it setup so no one can travel to zone below their level tier without turning into a chicken if they try to initiate pvp combat.

I also disagree with...
"It’s obvious, but if you are a fan of PvE games, raiding instances, and the like, you will not enjoy Warhammer Online in the least. There just isn’t enough PvE content to keep fans of item hunting and repeating bosses happy."
There is ton of PVE content you just dont have to sit around LFG'ing for hours to experience any of it.

SPOILERS-------------------------------------------------
Check out the various Dungeons...
http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Dungeon
Also have you seen any of the Liars?
http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Lair

There is a ton to do and I haven't had this much fun in an mmo without having to sit around waiting or grinding in a LONG time. The RvR stuff is awesome but even people who like PVE content will love endgame RvR because there are a ton of opposite faction NPCs to kill for set items etc etc.

ok I have spent enough time alt tabbed, back to WaR!

Hi, i agreed with your review of WAR pretty much until i read the line:

"if you are a fan of PvE games, raiding instances, and the like, you will not enjoy Warhammer Online in the least."

I think this is a little OTT, have you really experienced WAR's end-game? What rank are you? Have you been in Gunbad? Lost Vale? Bastion Stair?

If you are still in the low - mid game you have underestimated the amount of work that Mythic has put into the late game PvE, i couldn't list everything right here but there is atleast 3 dungeons to explore, and each WAR dungeon is about the size of 5-6 WoW dungeons put together, not only that but the Public quest's significantly grow in size and complexity in the late game, they require thought and tactics and you will be amazed when you actually experience this.

I think you should atleast give the end-game PvE a chance before you can make such a bold statement. And if you have tried it i still can't understand how you can say that everyone who likes PvE wont like WAR, if you can tell me what a better PvE experience is atm i would love to hear it.
