Nordenwatch is especially bad. For the Destro side of things, WE MUST make it to the Fort flag and fight from there, otherwise we lose the inital clash, and its all downhill from there. People being timid, and nobody wanting to be the first one in has made for matches where NOBODY even uses their sprint (flee) on the run forward. Now being either a Shaman or Sorc, I whould not be the one leading the charge, but nobody else will, so I do it anyway, and as soon as i see otehrs still charging (and they are commited, i back up.
...
The best is playing with a premade and the tanks can jump the rocks on the inside of the turn at Fort. They can get a lot closer before being targeted by most of the enemy.

Lol.

I've noticed this too. I play a fair bit as an ironbreaker, and I retreat from a fight if I notice that my healers suck. I know I'm supposed to be the front line and all, but dying means missing out on RP/XP and a long boring run back to the fray, so I only bother to 'hold the line' if I have decent healers to back me up.

Sometimes even with decent healers you still go down like a sack of potatoes under focus fire. The game needs more protective effects rather than a plethora of HoTs.

Wow, when it comes to why people are retreating you may have something there. I have often wondered what people are running from. All the penalty you get is a small debuff that goes away in 3 minutes. I remember back in the EQ1 days when you died you lost a big hunk of experience.

My main is a goblin shaman. Reposition? Sure. On top of the Tier 3 keep we took this week if I take one step to the left from where I usually stand to hit the troups it makes the difference between not being able to reach the ram pounding on the front door of the keep and being able to take it out in mere moments.

But retreat? Never. not even when the tank I have just rezzed and healed back to full comes running back at me with the enemy in tow.

I 100% agree, but being a tank myself I have to say its very demoralizing when you approach the enemy line and watch your health drop 50% in about a sec before you even get your first hit off. Takes a lot of confidence in your teams healers to stay in the fight and hope they heal you before you bit the bullet.
