Farcry 2: Holy Hell This Game Sucks!

Let me start off by saying, yes I know Farcry 2 is not a MMO and yes I realize I’m reviewing a FPS on a MMO blog. However I do play games other than MMO’s and while normally I would refrain from posting about them here, I just could not resist considering how hyped up Farcry 2 was and how horrible the game acutally is.
Here’s a quick introduction to what the game is like. Drive 5 mins to a mission point, spend 5 mins getting your mission, spend 5-10 mins driving to your mission, spend 5-15 mins completing the mission and finally spend 5-10 mins driving to the next area to get another mission. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the game. Think of it as GTA except driving around is not fun at all, it’s the worst part of the game and you’ll spend about 50% of your time doing it. Then think of having to do basically the same mission over and over, with almost zero variation. What fun!
To make things ever better, you need to buy all your own weapons, which are mostly pointless. Here’s a great example. I used a “silenced” pistol to shoot a guard, before anyone saw or heard me, I ran behind a mountain and made my way to the back of the base. Without so much as a peep from me I had about 10 guards running to my exact location. WTF Ubisoft? Is there no AI at all? Does buying a silienced gun even matter if the comp knows exactly where I am regardless of how stealthly I’ve been? But what I like even better is when I’m outside a building with no windows and the guys on the inside shoot me through the wall even though they should have no clue that I’m there. No it’s ok, I doing mind playing a game with AI from 1995.
Moving on to the game map. This is a map you’ll use a lot and the best part is that it covers about 45-55% of the screen depending if you’re driving (45%) or walking(55%). No mini map at all unless you’re driving. However the minimap in cars is pretty much useless as it only shows about 200 yards around you, so you’ll have the main map open anyway and have about 1/3 the road blocked by the map.
Next up are diamonds, the currency that you’ll need to use to buy shit. You can either get diamonds by completing missions or by finding breifcases randomly thrown about the map. To finds a breifcase you need to use a radar that will beep green when you’re near a case. Best part here is you only have the radar if your map is open. WoooHooo! Why there is no radar on the UI is beyond me. I think developers goal here is to frustrate the gamer to a point that they take their mouse and shove it into their eye. So as a fun mini-game you’ll be opening and closing the main map about ever 10 seconds you’re walking to see if there are any diamonds near by.
Gun shops are by far the best mission givers in the game. There’s a handfull of these places around the map and guess what? Every mission is EXACTLY the same which you have to do in order to open up new weapons. Seriously it’s the same exact mission over and over again! I did 4 or 5 of them before deciding I would just use the weapons that are currently available. I couldn’t stand doing the mission again, it was that boring.
Jeeze, this list is getting long. Next we have the game animations. There’s basically an animation for everything, which you HAVE to watch. Off the top of my head there’s knocking on a door, opening a door, sitting down, standing up, getting padded down, healing yourself, fixing a vehicle, even a dying animation which is about 30-40 seconds long that cannot be skipped! The fact that you’re constantly doing all these things and have to watch a 1-2 second animation every single time takes some getting used to. While I love games that are realistic, please cut the crap that makes gamers bored as F@#K. I don’t mind the animations that are 1-2 secs, I can live with that. But when I die and have to sit there for 30-40 seconds as I watch my character fall to the ground, black out, get rescued, watch as they stand back up and get ready to fight again, it makes be want to quit playing the game. At least put in a skip button.
Finally you have everyone in the entire country trying to kill you regardless of what you’re doing. You start the game in a taxi who magically is able to drive around without being fired upon, however as soon as you try it everyone shoots first and asks questions later. It doesn’t matter what time of day, where you are or what you’re doing. You could be on a cliff viewing the wildlife and randomly a jeep will pull up and open fire. This is the most ridiculous attempt at trying to break up the boring and tediousness of driving around. Good job Ubisoft. Also thank you for making quick saves not actual save files. I very much enjoyed it the first time when I exited the game and came back the next day only to find out the last hr and half was not saved. ..|..
Being a huge fan of Farcry this game was the biggest disappointment in 2008. An absolute pile of shit, I only wish I could get my money back. On another note I see PC Gamer gave this game a 94%. Having been subscriber for 8 yrs going, I can only assume a huge pile of money was dropped on the table to get that score. To be very very kind, I would give the game a 60% tops.

I was reading Amazon reviews today to try and decide whether to buy this game or not. Your review definately seals the deal as a not gonna happen. Such a great concept for a shooter too! Thanks for the honest review.

This review is so dead on. I wish I would have read it before shelling out 50 bucks for this piece of crap game. AI seems to know where you are at all times. Stealth is pointless, there’s always some sniper picking you off from miles away. Oh, and lets not forget about having to shoot the AI in the chest 10 times before they die. Come on. I guess this was to be expected after playing Armed Assault for weeks non stop and then stepping into FC2. This game and the AI is a joke.
I was thinking about purchasing fallout3. Any tips on that before I waste my money? Oh yeah, and PC gamer must have gotten paid because I didn’t blindly buy this game, I actually saw a few high scores first. This is ridiculous.

I’ve heard excellent things about Fallout 3, and they’re from tasteful, unpaid sources, so you should feel free to give it a try. At the very least, there’s the modding potential that the game will have for the PC, which if it goes as well as Oblivion, should add hundreds of hours of additional gameplay.

You couldnt be more right on this one. What a waste of my money. Id be upset aswel that you get a limit of 5 installs per copy but i doubt i will install it a second time.
Thank the lord theres people out there who play the game more than 5 minutes and really put up a descent review.
Its a sad mix of boiling point and call of duty 4 where it stacks the worst out of both games.

Wow, sounds like I got lucky on this one. I got Fallout 3 and was going to buy Farcry 2 later.
Fallout 3 uses the Engine thats behind Oblivion. But you don’t level like oblivion, with the idiotic major and minor skills. Its beautiful (the range of sight is breathtaking), but i do have a mid-high range machine. Right now my biggest problem, is my char has low strength, and i can’t carry much. But excessive use of the quick travel (just like Oblivion) relieves most of that pain. I also bought the PC version purely for the modding potential. If Modders do as they did for Oblivion (even higher-res textures, better graphics, more weapons, charchter, quests, etc) then I will be playing this game for a long time.
The game is already breathtaking, but even with the machine I have, I will be sorely tempted to upgrade if the modders bring out better graphics…

Totally agree. This game is balls. Great graphics etc etc but absolutely crap boring repetitive gameplay. Rent overnight or something but then disgard. Utterly disappointed.

I agree wholeheartedly with the post about all of this game as flaws. I was very disappointed to wait 5 years for this, pay $50.00, and have the game be so poorly realized. I have a high-end gaming system that plays this game @ 1900×1200 on a 28″ Viewsonic widescreen lcd with no performance issues. ALL of the issues are related to the gameplay itself. I could go on for hours, but here’s one small tidbit:
How come my character can fall 40 feet and not be injured, but can’t seem to jump a four foot gap across to a shack roof to get a diamond briefcase? Other inconsistencies too numerous to mention abound in this game. I’m sorry I didn’t spend the money on a different game.

A buddy of mine bought the game first day it came out. It is a rehash of GTA 2 with better graphics…YES TWO…except your in Africa and you only get Pintos and Jeeps to drive around in. The story sucks…the nuances suck and get old really fast….the combat and quests are so repetitive I quit playing the game after I completed..um…only about 7 of them. If you’re an action junkie, you might like using the guns but after they break on you you’ll probably quit too.

Game does sound like crap. But please don’t patronise journalists by assuming every review that doesn’t accord with yours must be the result of bribery or corruption.
As a journalist myself – and the recipient of more than one accusation of bias when I’ve told my honest opinion of something – I can tell you every journalist I know (bar a couple of exceptions, who are inevitably exposed rapidly anyway) are honest and principled folk.
They’re not all smart or insightful. Particularly games journos. But they don’t take bribes. And accusing them of such just serves to undermine the profession.

More to the point, i totally agree about this game. Unfortunately i don’t have piles of money to invest in a decent high end machine so imagine all that crap with added lag and low FPS. The fact that my old yo-yo distracted me more than the action in this game says it all. Most of the weapons you get in this game are pretty useless. Stealth doesn’t work, so there goes your silenced weapons. The explosives are very limited and thus you’ll tend to just run in with an automatic rifle or SMG for the majority of the game, thus loosing 90% of the supposed flexibility of the game. Not to mention trying to get to higher ground by getting on top of a tiny boulder is IMPOSSIBLE since the character can’t actually jump for shit. In fact, the best way i can describe this game is to imagine Crysis with less impressive graphics, weapons, playability, AI, flexibility and freedom. Thank god i didn’t pay the large amount of money this game is going for.

This review is SPOT ON! I bought this game and it is truely a CHORE to play. For a while I felt like I had to play it to get my money’s worth, but every time I thought about playing it I got that sick. feeling that you get when you realize the weekend is over, or you’ve got a paper due in the morning. I decided it’s best for me to end my sufferring by investing another $50 for Dead Space.

I have the Game pass at block buster and rent most games when they come out to see if they are worth buying or not. I have been addicted to Fallout 3 but decided to take a break and swapped it for Far cry 2. I played Far Cry 2 for about 1 hour and turned it off. This review is dead on the money….I cannot believe how poor this game is compared to the first one. I am playing 2 on the Xbox 360 where I played one on my now 8 year old computer. The graphics on 1 with the 2001 computer were far better then those on the Xbox. And the game play is just downright lame. This copy goes back tomorrow for something else.

For the first hour I was loving it. I was excited at the prospect of having no mission arrows, highlighted enemies etc that adorns most FPS HUDs.
However its all just hot air. this game is cack for all the points listed and others too numerous to list.

Was excited for this game as well. Loved the first Far Cry.
This is just a shit game, lame missions, bland environments, AI can only flank, you can stand right in front of them sometimes and they wont shoot but they flank…
The machine gun on the cars and boats seem to be completely useless. I try to take out the enemy with my cross hairs on them and buck a good burst thinking I will hit them or see some blood splatters….
Nope, I have to jump out of the truck and use my AK on single shot bursts about 10 times to get each one down.
I see what they were trying to do but this is probably one of the biggest hyped and worste delivered games I’ve seen in a long time. Putting it on Ebay next week before the whole world knows this game is shit

Hey your article is strong and makes some very good points. However, overall I just personally have a blast with this game. Although the animations are annoying at times, and a lot of times ill agree, the texture and details are AMAZING. So much oopen world and every object from trees to buildings act in a completely realistic manor. Also, when it comes to RPGs, minimaps are completely useless anyways, just extra space on ur hud that wouldnt do shit….. I would also like to say how hard you are going down on this game, when it makes you feel like you ARE your character, more than any other game does in a while.

Dead on, but you missed one thing. When sniping, the target is allways inside a bloody building. If he happens to be outside, there is no sniper spot. But dont worry, you do have a sniper replacement called a missile launcher! This works by shooting a rocket at the spot the map says the target is. Then run away like a crazy person from the big ass grass fire you just made.
It disappoints like crazy, how stupid can game designers really be?

I think the singleplayer is OK. I usually buy games for multiplayer, and FC2 SUcks balls in that area! I’ve been waiting for a game to launch for abou 40 minutes now as I type. Thats why i stopped playing gta. I almost bought mercenary 2 instead, but it doesnt have true MP.IM sooo regretting it!

Just completed the game and WHAT A WAIST OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!! The original one is by far superior. First few missions will keep you interested until you realize that every mission is the exact same. No imagination at all. I feel completely ripped off after spending $60 on this game. Its companies like this that produce JUNK to make a buck that piss me off. I hope everyone downloads this game and fucs over UBISOFT like they have their customers on this game.

This isn’t the first steaming pile of crap that ubisoft has released. I remember when wolves of the pacific first came out , I was so excited about it, only to find that it was a buggy mess that was obviously rushed to the stores just like this. Damn you Ubisoft, you hornswoggled me again.

Hey gais, playing the x360 version of Far Cry, have to largely agree with you all, however the game has numerous other problems – such as bugs – the game is chock full of them!
Bugs I’ve experienced: Loading the last save after dying will sometimes load another save instead: for example I had just started Act 2 and died, reloaded and next thing I know I’m back at the beggining of the game in my earliest f#@king save!
I’ve had freezings when walking out of the southern APR headquarters, amongst other freezings.
I’ve had save game files corrupted and have had to revert back to an earlier save
On more than one occasion I’ve found myself weaponless for no apparent reason
Enemies don’t face me sometimes and still manage to shoot at me and hit me.
the AI sucks……Hard
All this on the Xbawks 360 version
I’m so glad I only rented this game and bought Fallout instead.
The graphics really aren’t that great, FC2 just follows in the footsteps of other games in giving us drab, brownish
scenery. I never feel like I’m in the Jungle when im in it.
Granted Fallout has frozen on me quite a bit, but at least Fallout is engaging, Fun, well-told,etc.
This game is garbage, fuck Ubi-soft, Fuck PC-gamer, fuck anyone who gave this game over 4/10

I have to fully agree with you, writer.
I had to cry myself into sleep after I tried the multiplayer (the only feature why I actually bought this game), since it sucked monkey tits.
A couple of questions:
1. Why no server browser? What the fuck is it with the people today, nobody likes that AUTO-FUCKINGEASY-SEARCH thing, since half the time it doesn’t work, and usually it sends you to a laggy piece-of-a-shit server, but still the Auto-Search feature is usually preferred in newer games instead of the good ol’ server browser! (Hail Steam games!)
2. What. The. Hell. is up with the weapon damage? 3 headshots with the worst assault rifle won’t kill a guy? Why? I would propably die with just one hit. This is where the game fails hard: the weapons are way unbalanced and do way too low damage. Altough it isn’t really hard to get level ups and better weapons, it is still an assload of shit having to use the worst weapons since they don’t really even kill anybody.
3. Why can’t we join games in progress? This is the reason why half the time the auto-search-thingy won’t find anything: because there are no games that are still in the waiting lobby! Man, I just hope this had been a Steam game..
The game would propably be more entertaining if they released a major patch, which they really should, since the game has already sold over 1 million copies (which platform I don’t know).
But on the other hand: Ubisoft already got the money from the game, so why bother?
I liked the singleplayer first, but after I noticed that the missions were really fucking repetitive it got really boring.
AndwhydoeseveryNPCinsingleplayertalklikethis? The sound acting is fine, but really, why does everyone talk so fucking fast and why won’t anyone pause between sentences?
I would rate this game 5/10. It has some hope, but unless it gets patched I won’t play it again, at least not the multiplayer. GOD how I hate the multiplayer!

After playing Fallout 3 for days and fully enjoying it. I couldn’t even play FarCry 2 for 15 minutes. (Even before reading this review) The difference is HUGE.
BTW, your review is accurate even if I lost the will to play this “game” ever again.

About the map, I know I hate it to but the main goal in this game was not to be convenient, But to be realistic and I know if i was in the wood’s I don’t keep my ‘mini map eye contact’ do you? The game is not really a bad game, It’s a bit repetitive I guess.

While playing i often think “well somebody will probably make some decent mods for it” and then boot up Fallout 3.
101% accurate review but i wish i had read it before wasting my bandwidth and my hard drive space on this 3gb pile of wank.

I can’t believe I bought this shit. I was very excited by the videos i had seen, an then i saw they gave it a 94% review and just bought it. I played it for about two hours and now I CAN’T STAND IT. You can’t even explore the scenery, enemies spawn on every crossroad, all the time. I went exploring behind the big falls, hoping to find a cave or something interesting and there was… A FUCKING SUITCASE with 1 DIAMOND. It’s fucking horrible.

This was a waste of time and money. It is really irritating that Ubisoft just took a great title from Crytek and slapped it on their own piece of garbage game. It has nothing to do with the previous game. The graphics are worse. The AI is worse. The vehicles are worse. The missions are worse. The story is worse. It is not fun. No sense of progress aside from a percentage attached to the saved file. It freezes when loading and you have to start a new game. Has no Quick Save. Really, it seems like the retarded cousin of the first Stalker game and that had a lot of problems.

ITS true i played the stinkin weapon missions i snipe someone therers 20-30 gaurds behind me iv died like 100-200 times i have every wep i use the sniper a jeep pulls up behind me and i die thanks ubisoft im really happy that happened i flew my hangglider to the desert and i flt off it OMG i fly a plane all of a stupid sudden im standing on itTHANKS UBISOFT.

I bought this game after seeing the AWESOME reviews on gamespot, etc…..well yes. The first few missions are a blast until it turns into the same thing 50X over. And I am lucky to find up to 4 multiplayer games going at once. On top of that, the multiplayer is horrible. Does anybody know if I can sell this PC game, or does it TIE the CD key to your login….

I had to google “Far Cry 2 Sucks” to find this review. Unfortunately, I already bought the game. Beware of positive reviews on the major game sites. They are lying. If Ubisoft ever wants me to buy another game, they’re going to need to give me my $50 back. I actually think this game could destroy Ubisoft’s reputation. The most amazingly awful game I’ve ever played. If Ubisoft has any loyalty to its customers — which I doubt — it will pull this game from shelves immediately.

ok i bought this game instead of fallout 3 and gears of war 2 and this game is good not a a piece of crap like everyone is saying i have no problem sneaking or having the enemy know were i am and if u guy actually have shot guns before go on youtube look up silenced guns they still make enough to be hear and if u just got done killing a whole bunch of enemy’s and are hiding in a shed in the open were would u shoot in real life the house y don’t u actual think of a good hiding spot like way off then all you have to do is snipe them off one by one this game is actually pretty real and complaining about sightseeing animals just like saying how do they know your a tourist is real life the don’t and in Africa if your stupid enough to sight see and a place thats war torn like in the game they will shoot you on sight god i wish people would get it out of there heads that not every out of the united states was some polite people and in the begging of that game he had passed through there before also the cars you drive aroung are the fractions vehicles so if you drive and apr car through a ufll base there going to shoot u and since u cant tell who’s who by there cloths in this game do listen to this dumbass this game is cool not some perfect holy game that glows when u walk out of the store and gods light shines on you when u walk out side so u know what this guy can go shove a hot curling iron up his ass

I cant understand what they did in 5 years of time !. They even went to africa to make everthing so good as possible, what did they do in africa ? nothing else but BS. I dont feel like there are animals in the game,
the engine en graphics are cool , but the gameplay feels like they spend a single day to make all of it!.

Mate, i could not agree with u more on this.
This game absolutely sucks. It gets so repetitive that it just turns you off from gameplY. And driving around for 10 minutes to your next mission is the dumbest sh1t ever, no fun in it at all . The missions are the same thing over and over and over and over,,,,

oh, and the most worst thing is that damn map, takes up more than half your screen and i always find myself crashing into boulders that are just out of my viewing area..

I have to agree so much with this post. Definently a 5/10 game and most of that is made up by the admittingly breathtaking environment. Its clear Ubisoft put all their work into making it look good and neglected basic gameplay and interaction. For starters the hype about destroyable environment is short lived. Asides from being able to burn some grass theres not alot else u can do. I put a rocket launcher into a tin shed that was meant to be a “fuel station” before finding out i had to walk in with my pistol and shoot the cylinder inside…must be some mean sheets of tin in Africa.
Repetitive and no replayability. I cant believe the good ratings this game got. DO NOT PAY MONEY FOR THIS

Oh and im not sure if anyone has mentioned this but there is the illusion of choice but in the end there is only 1 ending. No matter what u do or which character you choose. Do not play and expect your choices to have any effect on the end result. Was possibly the most dissapointing ending to a game. I tried playing it through a few different ways and found the exact same thing over and over.

I am sorry to say that to a large degree its true. I have been playing it from release and although I keep going back its all getting a bit ’samey’. I bought this game soley on PC Gamers review…and I have been struggling to see what the high score was for. Yes it does new things but as mentioned, there are some fundimental failures and it doesnt utilise the Buddies, open landscape or potential for big shoot outs/stealth. I only paid £20 for my copy form SHopto.net on pre-release..and thats about what its worth….such a massive shame..could have been a really classic game

Maybe you guys just need to buy decent computers to play these games on before you go whinging bout em being shite. Yeah the gameplay in farcry 2 is a lil tedious but the graphics are spot on as is the explosions, fire and weaponry effects but u cant see any of that playing on ur years old computers can u? U guys aint even gamers ur just whingers whacking on forums and talking dribble. Get ur hand in ur pocket and buy a pair of GTX280’s and a decent quad core processor then tell me the effects r shit. Until then u cant say its shit cos infact its ur PC thats shit kinda like You. As for Fallout 3 thats game is very novel has some really really cool parts in it such as blowing up megaton with an A-bomb and being able to blow the head off of everyone u meet even ur own dad

Though i totally agree that this game sucks big time in its current condition i think it can become much better with few script changes, such as no more random spawning jeeps driving maniacly to roadkill you when you are hiding on a bush in total darkness or check points doesnt get respawns at least 24 hours after you clear them ,better hit loaction damage (head shot =kill) and ofcourse make sneak working again.
I am searching net for any mod for FC2 but no luck ,if anyone have any information about FC2 mods please share here..

I wisely chose not to purchase Far Cry 2. I have played through it almost twice; first time on novice and second time on infamous (hardest). The only difference is that you are given less ammo, less health, and enemy bullets hit harder, meaning you will be saving and reloading much more frequently.

The graphics are spectacular and in the right lighting, actors can look almost real. The engine seems to handle the massive environment and draw distances very well, unlike similar, older games like Oblivion. The game never has to pause to load content and you never observe objects ‘popping’ into existence (in my experience). I play the game on highest settings under DX9 (DX10 looks the same, but with a noticeable performance hit).
Voice acting is superb in controlled cinematics, but only slightly above average elsewhere. I’ll stab someone to hear them say “I’ve been shot!”. Also, there is not a great variety in what actors say to each other when looking for you or fighting you.
Environmental sounds, as well as weapon and mechanical sounds, are excellent and completely immersive. Out in the open desert, you can almost feel the wind whipping around your head.
When we start talking in terms of gameplay, however, things go from outstanding to merely average. The A.I. gets the job done and not much else. It is the weakest aspect of the game, which is a shame.
Enemies can see you just fine through foliage, when you don’t even know where to shoot. Forget about hiding in bushes, as was possible in the original Far Cry.
Enemies have divine inspiration from Allah, and will shoot at you the moment they can see you. They never need to guess who you are, even when you are driving toward them in one of their own vehicles.
Snipers are the only ones who will shoot at you “a mile away” as so many users complain. It’s actually closer to half of a mile and is not unrealistic. What IS unrealistic is that they have unlimited ammo, while you have only a handful of bullets with which to retaliate. At night, almost the opposite exists – you may walk within 30 feet of guards and they will not see you. Considering how bright Far Cry 2’s nights are, it just doesn’t jive, as you can see them perfectly fine. You’ll also never see a guard with a flash light.
Sneaking around at night is always your best bet and the sneaking itself is not particularly engaging, as it was with Thief.
Enemy checkpoints and stations will renew themselves within a few hours of game time, making the game more annoying than challenging.
You’d think that in this day and age developers could program A.I. buddies to accompany you and jump into vehicles with you, but such is not the case in Far Cry 2. If you are rescued by an ally, they will stay behind, forever within a small area, until you leave them, and then magically vanish.
If you meet them at the local hangout, they have a few idle animations that you may observe them performing, such as reading a map or doing push-ups. They may address you, but that’s the end, as far as their character depth goes. Besides giving out missions, they are quite lifeless and useless. Also, there are some model flaws – in particular, the elbow joint.
I could go on for pages about things the A.I. fails to do right and things the game should have improved on.
The “story” mode is also unimpressive – how the game is supposed to dynamically adjust to the order in which you do things. The story-driving missions are very linear and always lead to the same conclusion. You MUST follow the same basic sequence of events, every time.
The story itself actually became compelling to me and is why I even found myself finishing it (I never intended to play the game more than a few hours). I wanted to know how things turned out. Too bad the developers botched what could have been a truly great ending. Your friends all turn against you for hardly any reason at all, every time, and the Jackal gives you two choices: dynamite or bribe the guards, and no matter which one you pick, it ends the same way.
It would have been much more satisfying to have one of the girls stick with you to the end – helping you fight off the other betrayers and then putting you in the predicament of having to choose whether to sacrifice yourself or to escape with her. As it is, there really is no happy ending to the game. It’s suddenly over and you’re like ‘oh, well I guess that’s that…”.

As an addendum, I’ll respond to a few things in the main review up top…
You will find many occasions where you will need to drive a considerable ways to your objective. This is realistic and I have no problem with driving; in fact, I find the driving itself to be enjoyable, except for a few things, caused no doubt by laziness at Ubisoft…
A) vehicle mechanics are boring. You can’t blow tires, you can’t run out of gas, you can’t powerslide properly and spew dust everywhere… the gauges on the dash work but not realistically, your actor never touches the shifter on standard vehicles, you can take any turn at 80mph easily… no sliding around on the dirt that you drive on, no spinning of tires, I mean, why the FUCK can’t we have THIS: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1kazb_colin-mcrae-dirt-trailer_videogames
Or at least something CLOSE. Anyway, another driving killer is B) checkpoints, that you can almost never pass through unscathed or without picking up a trigger happy tailgater who will shoot you dead if you don’t do something about it quick. And these things are EVERYWHERE. They could at least have it where you must do something stupid before guards start to shoot and pursue you, like drive through at high speed, run into a guard, etc. That brings us to C) buddies cannot ride with you. How much more fun could be had if, say, the French girl, could jump in the truck and ride with you to your next objective. Not just that, but even TALK to you on the way. I think you wouldn’t mind the drive so much. Especially if she could get out and fight with you, then escape with you back to the truck, back to home base. But Ubisoft is lazy, so you must do everything by yourself, which includes driving.
I agree with the main review, that most of the weapons are indeed pointless. I’ve experimented with all of them and I can say that for practical purposes, I only need the Dart Rifle, a sniper rifle, and either a silenced pistol or uzi for close quarters. The only gun that is truly silent is the dart rifle, so I start with that and fall back on the regular sniper rifle if needed. Ubisoft gimps the maximum amount of ammo you can carry pretty hard, especially on infamous, so if you aren’t careful you’ll run out quick.
I don’t have a problem with the map, except the icons are a little cartoony for my taste… the cell phone is a replica of an actual phone so why can’t the map be a replica of an actual GPS, for a little consistency?
I’d continue but must sleep now…

Far Cry 2 is awful. Ubisoft can do much better than this. Yes the “world” is big and full of shiny crap, but the gameplay is a disaster.
Much like Assassins Creed, Ubisoft took a great concept, but left out the fun.
I rented this turkey, and I’ll be taking it back tomorrow. It’s simply a waste of time to play it.
Whatever you do, DONT buy this crap.

Dude…you have no idea how right you are about this game! I have exactly the same complaints. Fary Cry 2 was an over hyped piece of junk. It could have been a lot better. Ubisoft should feel badly for using Far Cry in the name of this crap title. I’ll finish the game but I doubt I’ll ever look at it again.

Totally, TOTALLY agree. This game is just terrible..First of all, it has NOTHING to do with Far Cry…No Jack Carver (not that I miss the retard with his painfully stupid one-liners), no trigens, no experiments or mutants or continuity or anything…Now Capcom managed to pull this off with Resident Evil 4 where they switched zombies for infected villagers and took the story in another direction (with a recurring character though) but Far Cry 2 did nothing of the sort here…it’s a completely different game.
The graphics are sweet. And yeah, that’s about it.
Missions you get from the arms dealer are all EXACTLY the same (“a shipment of weapons is coming in, I want you to destroy it” — translation: chase after and destroy a convoy of 3 vehicles, ad nauseam), The main missions have a little more variation, but it’s always the same formula: go to a location, get a briefing, do the mission, get another mission. No twists, changes in the story arc or anything. Then there’s the “buddy system”: you make a pal, he calls you when he gets in trouble and you have to go and save his ass, he does the same if you die. Who gives a shit?
You have to travel to get your missions and accomplish them, and the distances are huge as often as they aren’t…and you get interrupted every two minutes because every person you cross want a piece of you.
And by far, that’s the stupidest part of this game…everyone wants to kill you. And I mean they REALLY want to kill you. I don’t think it’s humanely possible to want to kill someone as bad as these random people want to kill you: if you’re standing in the middle of nowhere and start firing off shots into the sky, guys will pull up in vehicles, stop in front of you and start blasting you in the face…Why? I don’t know. They’ll also chase after you unwaveringly in their vehicles if you jump in yours and try to get away (and you can’t lose them, no matter what moves you pull) or if you just drive by them. As you travel, you encounter “guard posts” over, and over, and over again…so get ready to be hated.
Oh and killing them takes like 10 shots, unless you get a head shot.
What the fuck is this game? Don’t waste your money or your time.

Just wanted to add that the story feels like a mix of the Lord of War and Blood Diamond movies. Total lack of creativity from Ubisoft which saddens me because they have made some really good games in the past.
Questions I have for Ubisoft:
1. Why can’t I go to a prone position?
2. Why did you leave out certain actions in the key bindings? (You are FORCED to use E to let go of a stationary gun or get out of an assault vehicle turret)
3. Why not just let us use the interact action to: enter a vehicle/vehicle turret, grab a stationary gun AND let go of it (its only interact action to grab the gun but a different button to let go of it that is not bindable!!!)
4. Who is the total idiot that came up with the multiplayer GUI? Can you bitch slap them for me?
5. Why is there no server list in MP like other functional MP FPS games?
6. How do enemy soldiers take 3 sniper shots in the chest and still live?
7. How do they continue to shoot ACCURATELY at you when you are loading them up with bullets from your gun?
8. How does a AI soldier see and shoot a rocket at me when I am barely in sniper distance and behind many many trees branches and other foliage?
9. How do they all find me and shoot me accurately at night?
10. Did ANYONE at your company actually test this game before launch?

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! this game has great graphics… but the rest sucks a big weenie! This game is made for a console.. there is no challenge to it, IT IS the same thing over and over again… PACMAN from like, 1980 has a better AI.. and to mention you clear out a guard post drive around a tree and all the guys that you just killed are back in 5 minutes. Oh yeah.. and those 2 buttfucks, josef and the israeli are always butting into your missions… what a crap story line…
I would rather play stalker 1 another 3 times in a row.

Well,apart from EA we now have a second game publisher able to produce total crap and actually sell a million copy’s of it….i take my hat of to their marketing department as it seems to be the only department working as it should..but there is a light at the end of the tunnel..they made wolves of the pacific into a good game so maybe they will bring out a major patch to fix this abomination called ‘far cry’ 2,it is indeed a far cry from being a good game..maybe they took the title too seriously.
And the graphics are good?Man just look around,have you ever seen trees and branches move like they are on acid?…you walk into a bush and it will move to the max,no in between just up or down.weapondetails are about 1996 quality,and when you run everything blurs,yeah i have that all the time when i run..oh its the malaria?Well you dont run at all when you have malaria…but take a pill and you can after 5 seconds,it just makes you cry.And then there is the animation for every move like opening a door,or closing it…and the dying!Come on we have been there done that we dont need it anymore…this whole game is just an engine demonstrator and it even fails on that for having totally no atmosphere,or game immersion feeling like fallout3,now thats a game!
i could go on for ages,but i’m just gonna stop now and forget i even gave this piece of crap a chance,oh and Ubisoft i downloaded it for free,serves you right!

Hello everyone, just completed the game tonight. I am going to rabble for a while about this game. I’ve spent alot of money on my quadcore sli blah blah machine to max out any game that will come out for atleast 1 and a half years only to find that game after game is just wank material, Crysis was a complete nightmare with its bugs and awfully crap engine which would rip any machine to peices, even mine… Then there was hype and hope about FC2, I bought got 50% of the way through it had to wipe my hard driver and play it all over again. took me two weeks to reinstall the game because of issues i had with ubisofts fucking DRM security feature which i fucking contacted them about and fucking thanks for only making a USA available contact number fucking dicks. I ended up swapping it for another copy of FC2 to reinstall, completed it tonight as I said and the ended is the worst i’ve ever seen for the amount of effort you have to put into the game, like someone said earlier, it is a chore!!!! I’ve played games since back in the day of starcraft and medal of honor, those two games are better than FC2. Yes the graphics I think are beautiful at points in the game, I love amazing graphics but this game kills it all. It has seriously dented my faith in thinking that true to life graphics is going to rule all games, FarCry 2 is F U C K I N G B O R I N G. Safe to say it’s the first and last i’ll ever buy a product of ubisoft. This is coming back a computer technician here…. You’d think i’d be able to emphasise or say nicer things for this game but it really has disappointed me…. Please people do not buy this game, its pathetic

Well to be honnest, My favorite moment was installing the game. I was so super excited. Then, there was a 20 minute cutscene. You know it’s cool and all, but i wanted to shoot.
THE GRAPHICS FUCKING SUCK. THE ONLY THING NICE ABOUT IT IS YOUR ARM WHEN YOUR FIXING YOUR PEICE OF SHIT CAR!!!!!
And i did that like 75 times btw. You CANNOT fix a car by fucking screwing in the middle of your engine. wtf is that.

I can’t think of any review I’ve disagreed with more, at least in a factual manner.
Having a silenced weapon DOES matter, even being within 20ft of an opponent doesn’t mean that they can hear you kill off one of their own, and if you miss ithey will actually respond to the sound of your round hitting something opposite where you are.
I myself have never experienced any of the AI being able to shoot me through anything that they couldn’t actually see through. Those shanties that they hide in have plenty of holes to see or shoot through, and you can use them just as readily as the AI can.
As for the minimap, perhaps I’m just more than adequately trained at reading and retaining information from a map, I don’t find this any more cumbersome in the game than I do in real life.
And then everyone is trying to kill you, and this is explained several times to you – no-one knows who you are or who you work for. The cabby has a job, the nation is relatively peaceful while he has it. Once you are in situ then all hell breaks loose and you’ll notice that you don’t see the cabby anywhere ever again.
Still that leads us to the bus, why can it get around the map without incurring the wrath of the various guards? I have to assume its because the drivers only go through checkpoints that are controlled by guards that they are affiliated with.
Jeeps don’t drive around randomly. If you take the time to observe them you notice that they patrol a very specific area. Their drivers are idiots sure, but they patrol a very specific section of road and you aren’t supposed to be there.
If you listen to any of the Jackal’s tapes you come to understand that this is a country where 17 year old kids blow a buys abdomen to hambuger in order to steal his boots. You’re walking around with weapons fresh from the armoury, not dirty and dinged like the crap the mercs have. They are going to want to take them from you.
Still there are aspects that don’t make much sense:
-being able to achieve a one-shot kill with a silenced pistol from a distance of over 100m seems a little unrealistic
-not being able to go prone or kitten crawl, these are things that should be readily available.
-not being able to ‘mantle’, Looking Glass managed to fit this into Thief and System Shock, it makes sense to be able to heave yourself over obstacles you can get your palms over.
-no rope use, again Looking Glass was able to bring rope use into the world of Thief, although Rope Arrows really don’t make much sense. Still being able to string your own climbing rope a la XIII would be a good gimmic.
-locked doors and invisible walls. A .50cal should be able to open a wooden door, if not tear down an adobe brick hut completely, so why can’t it? And that leads to the question: why in a game that prides itself in its open air concept are there areas of the maps walled off with invisible walls? THAT is lazy.
As for image quality. I’ve got to say I like the look of this game better than Crysis. Perhaps its because of the games ability to render nearly believable details without bogging down my system, unlike Crysis.
I love the adjusted contrast that happens when you change from brightly lit to dark environments. I also like the reflections on the water and the way the .50cal backs a boat up right quick. All of that and my machine isn’t all that gutsy. A P4 3.4 GHz proc (pre em64t) 4GB ram, and a Radeon 4670 running on a 2 year old dc7600 SFF with Vista Ultimate installed. I can run the game at 1920×1200 with the quality set to High and still consistently get framerates above 60. Not something I can do in Crysis.

First at all excuse me if my english isn’t very good…i’m a spanish speaker!
Well, in my oppinion this is not a bad game. I’ve been playing games for 25 years and as a compulsive gamer i have played some crap games that makes PONG looks like GOTY.
I think they have done a great effort on graphics, music, physics, etc. and its amazing how they recreated Africa…but they totally fucked up the game by acting like noobs developers. And thats because 2 simply things:
- Playability time: Well, really i understand it must be hard to make an FPS game have the playability time that best RPGs have…but that doesn’t mean that repeating same things over and over is playability quality. For me it looks like developers had some brainstorming session while developing the game and stated words like “Hey, we created a huge world…how can we keep people busy on it?” And there was such ‘brilliant’ ideas like ‘Let’s make them drive for hours!’, ‘Let’s them have a magical diamond discovery GPS too dumb that can´t point exact location on map…instead it will make blip blip sounds while walking here and there”, “Let’s put some x/50 stats there for them to play nonsense for hours” and things like that. And thats what they got. A huge world for a boring gameplay that sometimes makes me feel like im trying to be entertained like a 7yo kid. Next time, if you are out of new ideas just make an exciting non-stop 10 hours FPS or an african RPG with 100+ gameplay hours…but don’t fuck a game just for silly playability time.
- Totally fucked up Far Cry reputation: Something like ‘Hey, let’s buy Coca-Cola and make it orange color and porridge taste’. Have the devs played the original Far Cry? It’s an huge game with high gameplay time too…but the story was paced and consistent, and every thing on the game looked like it was there for some reason…not for some random aliens here, warriors there, reward over there, bla bla bla. If you wanna make an African GTA just don’t call it Far Cry. You created expectations with the name, and disappointing is what you are receiving. Hope the money you made with the game helped you to live better being ashamed for breaking a myth. Now it’s not Far Cry series…it’s just Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2. Don’t even think on making Far Cry 3 cause you already messed it up.
Ok. Despite that the critics are deserved…if you forget the game name still is a good game to play. Not to replay in short time terms. It’s worth it’s while cause i’m sure there is a lotta work behind the game…but next time call it GTA Africa and don’t create expectations just for filling up your bucket. Personally, i would never buy Far Cry 3 until it was 10€ worth…or until i amd sure then it would be an experience like Far Cry 1.

haha perfect. I just rented this game from blockbuster and was thinking wtf, reviews said it was really good. This reaview was spot on but forgot one very important thing; the enemy has literally perfect aim. If you are driving 50 mph past an enemy camp(which are all over the place), you will be shot like at least 3 times and then baddies will start to come after you.

Gameplay is completely crap indeed, but the most annoying thing about the game is the multiplayer mode.
Unless you play on a very fast dedicated server you`ll be having the most frustrating online gaming experience ever.
The lag is so worse that you can shoot all of your ammo into an opponent an he still walks around while you will be killed after only 1 hit !!!!!

Can someone send an email to UBISOFT and make them change all the anoying things, and make a new story, and give the people who have spent their money a free new game!
Hate the driving, there are no sneaking possibilites, I get sick when I play it (think it’s the driving), what’s the point of silenced guns?, there isn’t possible to climp the mountains, did I mention the driving? etc..
At least can they make a helicopter or a jet-pack so that you may travel around easier, and PLEASE remove most of the guard posts/make the enemies less hostile towards you!

Hell…U took my words…But I still have to add that I tryied this game after seeing the “incredible AI” in a Dev. Demo in Youtube where a sniper shoot an enemy’s leg and his buddy comes to help, so u cant thake both down.
Well…after many tries I finally got it. But the buddy didn’t come, and I waited for so long…
And what about “U have to relocate frequently” DAMN I MOVE EVERY SINGLE SHOT AND THE MF AI FINDS ME, even with “CAMMO” but u can’t see them in colorfull suits cuz of the “amazing scenary”.
I should wasted my money with something more usefull, like cleanning up my ass.

I liked Far Cry but what I read about Far Cry 2 everywhere make me avoid this game like the plague. I just bought Left 4 Dead instead and I’m enjoying every second of it. There’s something that Ubisoft did not understand: it’s a video game, and players don’t want reality, they want the illusion of reality. Just having a huge wide area is not enough, and is nothing if you kill it by bad game play.

Wow, I was trying to find somewhere to vent about this tedious dog turd of a game, and this review lists almost everything about this game that annoys me; spot on. Pretty much everything about Far Cry 2 cheeses me off. Like having to watch the dumb scripting for every little action–getting in and out of cars is especially bunk. And why was the massive playing area treated like a mojor breakthrough in the marketing? It is so boring and repetetive travelling around it!

YES. This game is a load of crap and I think it’s a waste of time for me to even download it. I decided to just get it over with and play it to the end only to find what? The lamest ending EVER. It’s like knowing something is bad from the beginning, but you have hopes that it will improve only to realize in the end that you’ve just wasted your time. Time that you can’t get back in your life.
My main gripe with this pos game is that the weapons are completely inaccurate. For example, the G3KA4 should be one of the strongest rifles because it fires 7.62 rounds. In reality, one shot from that thing can blow off limbs. It sucks a$$ to see that bare chested guys can take 10+ rounds and then still roll around on the ground before it takes out its pistol to shoot you.
Plus, the AK is one of the most reliable assault rifle in the world, and seeing it jam and blow up on you the first day you use it is just plain stupid.
Oh, and I would disagree with everyone here who says stealth doesn’t work. Stealth totally works, but only for enemies and not you.

OMG! I read this after I bought it, I can do with the animations, I can even do with most of the boring missions BUT the DRIVING AROUND with a bloody huge map in my hand AND THE FACT that everyone on this game shoots me like I have raped everyone’s sister or something is ridiculous. Also whats ridiculous is the fact that I might be hiding 400 metres away behind a bush with a camo suit on and some pathetic NPC can shoot the hell out of me with a shotgun . I cant see him even if I run around but he can see my from behind some building.
Just to correct the author though, there IS ONE stealth gun and that is the dart. IF you can stay far away and shoot with it ….no one actually knows what happened and you can pick them off one by one.
Otherwise quite a sad game..and to think of it I was thinking between Dead Space, COD WAW and this..and I chose this, some one slap me.

Also I was wondering has anyone realised how ridiculous the animals are in this game, they try their best to die and run on the road right in front of your car. Its like UBISOFT’s realism part is how to road kill endangered animals. Honestly I find it really distasteful . Everytime I try to save a zebra from hitting my car the zebra ensures it comes right in front. Even if that is true by some far fetched reason I dont think it was appropriate for them to put it in the game. In Oblivion only some maniacal rabid animals who want to attack you , attack you the rest stay as far away as they can or run away. And ITS AFRICA MAN where are the lions the hyenas ?? jeez can this game suck any more

The open play I can deal with but no Minimap makes me tear my eyes out. I found myself looking for the minimap and then saw it wasn’t there and couldnt believe it.
Opening the map every two seconds sucks. I hate the molaria crap. MAN just let me play WTF!!!
Shooting at guys in vehicles is all but useless.
Yeah this game is pretty terrible on many levels. I wish it was better and I kept playing expecting it to be better. But it never was. Thankfully I didnt waist money, a friend let me borrow their copy to check it out. Gave it back almost as fast. horrible.

I bought the game the same day it was released. What a waste of money. The game is horribly stupid – no AI, stupid repeats, so boring and fake. The folks who made this game are no developers, but wankers… Wish they would have been eaten by some predator on their visit in Africa. That would be worth my 50 bucks to see…

To throw in my two cents,
What I couldn’t believe is that if you completely clear out a camp and SAVE the game.
Quit the game, and then load it up again lets say, the following evening. Oh look that emptied camp has now filled up again… in fact enemies have spawned RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!
Rediculous, Ubisoft fucked up.
And lets not get started on the animals, last night I WALKED up to a gazelle that just happily stood there eating grass, before I sliced it to pieces with my machette.
I think this would make Darwin is toss in his grave; such a poor representation of animal behaviour for a game that boasts about it! GRRRR!

Yes I trusted pcgamer for this purchase also and wow, I can’t believe they let me down for the first time ever. I haven’t even gotten into the game and never will even try it until they fix something that really really annoys me first. The mouse sensitivity in this game BLOWS! In all of my other shooters i have my mouse set really sensitive so that one swipe across my mousepad can give me almost 5 360 spins. At the most sensitive this game allows only 2 spins wich makes the game feel sluggish as hell to me. If they dont patch this simple fix very soon I will just delete the game and I hope Ubi enjoys the money i gave to them for absolutely nothing. First they screwed up the ghost recon franchise with the steaming piles of crap called advanced warfighter and now they screw up the farcry name. I think its time to x ubi soft products completely off the list.

horrible game, bought it in Canada 3-4 days after release and was gravely disappointing. played the game to try to get my moneys worth but stopped at 50% and just gave up and went on youtube to see the ending which wasn’t so great. most of the negative aspect of the game i experienced have all been listed already by other users. as a person who is working as a busboy to make money (took 1 day to make enough to buy this garbage as wage is really low even with tip at my restaurant, 9 hour shift). i recommend all the people who will plan on buying this game to reconsider and download it first or rent it.
As a guarantee to Ubisoft as of now, i will download all your future releases for screwing me over with hyped garbage and making me send 56.49 after tax and getting me yelled at by my mom for buying one of the most boring video games. even hitman 1 for pc (2000, eido) beats this shit.

I wonder if they even tested the game before they decided to promote as such a great game. I was looking forward to this game, but after a few missions it’s pretty clear that the game is all about repeating the same shit over and over again. And why the hell do all those enemies respawn over and over again at the check points? And the world feels completely empty. There is no movement, no dynamic living world and no story to speak of. I will continue playing it until I puke (hopefully I’ll finish it before that happens, but probably not). But I don’t think Ubisoft really cares about negative critique. It’s a shame they didn’t ask the community to test the game and give proper feadback. Why is the player the only one roaming the landscape? Everything else is completely static, except for a few enemy patrol cars that show signs of being stuck in a loop, going between the same two points. This game is crap. Ubisoft is crap.

This game has so many flaws that I’ll finish this rant and remember a few hundred I left out.
First off, this game tries very hard to be realistic.(Weapon Jamming, Animations for EVERYTHING, Day to Night, etc.) So there is no excuse for having people take 10 shots from a G3ka4 and surviving.
Flaw 1. People take WAY too many hits to die, you can unload an entire pistol mag on someone and they just keep limping and falling and getting back up. STUPID
Flaw 2. You have to drive sometimes over 10 minutes to get to a mission that lasts 2 minutes. Missions are very repetitive, and the driving is just boring.
Flaw 3. Molaria? What does that add to the game? Stress! Theres no point other than to annoy you! When you get a bottle of medicine it only has like 3 pills! Dumb!
Flaw 4. (BIGGEST FLAW) Get mission drive 20 minutes, get shot at every 2 minutes by another random car post, get out fix your car, and repeat. I’m not lying or overexaggerating, this really happens. Don’t believe me? Play it for yourself.
Flaw 5. Exploration is pointless. Theres nothing to find. No outfits or unlockables, just stupid diamond cases with 1 or 2 diamonds in them. Golden AK’s? Ohh yaaay
Flaw 6. The buddy system is pointless. You just don’t give a shit about it. You see them every blue moon, who cares? You can’t drive with them, you only see them when you die, or when they’re being a pain in the ass in the story.
Flaw 7. There is no choice in this game, everything ends up the same. All you do is pick from different characters (most of whom are stupid) and they all are exactly the same except for when you see they’re arm on the screen. Reeeal imaginitive…
And really I could go on all day…I mean honestly I could, there are just so many flaws in this game it’s ridiculous. I’m just naming a few….A FEW of the major ones…Bottom line you can only truely understand how horrendous this game is when you chore yourself for a few hours playing it.
Please save your money and get Dead Space or Fallout 3 or something lol

OK seeing as i got my post deleted because I have a different Opinion I will say this again…
I agree with alot of what is being said. It is repetitive, Travel sucks etc…
But The game isnt made for you to be promted to do everything the same way. You just choose to. Look at doing things differently. For example, when attacking a guard post, try Rushing it with a Vehicle, Rushing it on foot, Sniping, Sneaking around and macheteing and hiding, Mortaring etc…
You need to make the game fun for yourself. If you do, you might actualy enjoy it.
And I think that there is a hell of a lot more people that like this game that may have posted here… but maybe their posts get deleted, like mine did.

You are all chucking a hissy fit because “oh, i dont like this game”. WAKE UP CALL! Not every game is perfect. You just have to deal with it. And often, its just that you personally dont like the game. Take a trip to websites like http://www.farcry2world.com. you will find lots of people that like this game.
You also chose to buy the game. Its not the developers fault that you assumed that youd like it. Your fault for not testing it in the first place
Just learn to realise ” hmm, this game might be crap. too bad”, and go out and buy a better one.
In my personal opinion you need to make the game fun for yourself. try different tactics out. For example, when assaulting a Guard post, try these: Vehicle Rushing (driving strait in and running people over), Vehicle weapon bombarding (sitting outside and firing with the grenade launcher). Grenading, Stealth shooting (Dart rifle), sneaking around and macheteing, IEDing, Mortaring etc. The list goes on.
The game wasnt designed to be a “hold your hand” game. It doesnt guide you through or promp you to do things to get to the next stage (unless its a mission chain and you want to reach a specific one). The game is made so that YOU choose what to do. You make it fun for yourself.
Finally, to anyone that reads this and hadnt played the game yet, and thinks, “GOD, this game must really suck!”, There are pleanty of people who do like the game. The admins here just delete all the comments in favour of this game because it clashes with their opinions. My advice its to rent the game, try it out, and see yourself whether you like it or not.
As I earlier stated, http://www.farcry2world.com is a good community site for good advice on the game. Posts arent deleted because people say they dont like the game. Look and post there if you want good advice.

They did not even have the decency to reply something like “we will look into it” they did not reply at all.. games are NOT like movies that they cannot be fixed later..every game comes out with patches that fixes such issues and those games survive ..I remember swat3 which was a single player game ..but they took out a patch free of cost (not add on) to turn it into a multiplayer …just coz the gamers requested it. Now thats service..compare it to this shit with ubisoft ..we all just feel cheated. From HL2 to crysis every gaming company listens to their gamers and fixes their games..but not fantastic ubisoft..they are too busy coming out with pop new genre ! So thats why we are doing this, otherwise I am too busy with my work …I work all day and i would like to rest at night rather than doing this!

It’s online gameplay is by far farcry’s biggest selling point. Single player action is useless, this is not a great single player game. It’s pure online fun, as fun as the old goldeneye on the 64 in terms of multiplayer games are concerned.

First off this isn’t even a Far Cry game. As I recall Far Cry was fun Far Cry had good A.I. and Far Cry had an actual radar, map, story, and you know shit that makes a game good. Beside the nature graphics (fire spread system, and shooting trees, and the sun set) and the map editor the rest of the game plays like a drunk bear eating my chronic diarrhea. This is not an overstatement. That is an understatement. I didn’t even realize that people who were in the army didn’t clean their guns and just let it rust to hell. And the cars, the cars, My bloody vomit looks like a way better car model then the one they used. I rented this, but i consider it more than five dollars wasted. Fuck this game the staff who made this should be fired.

I think I have a decent PC [AMD 3200+, 1 GB RAM and a 8600 GT, Windows Xp Sp3] and i can run this game smoothly on medium settings , 1152×864 Resolution and 2x AA and the landscape is awsome but this is only thing that is pretty awsome about this game. Ubisoft tried to amaze us with the grapics, and hoped that we will forget about the gameplay. I am happy that i did not bought this game [ I downloaded it ]. After about 30 minutes of playing it was uninstalled. Fuck Ubisoft !

Got fucked over by Ubisoft’s ‘BIA Hell’s Highway’ and since i am a big fan of Far Cry 1, I got fucked over again by their Far Cry 2… Those dipshits at ubisoft owe me about 120 dollars. They make (and by a huge margin) the worst shooters ever. Far Cry 2 isn’t even a game…. It’s the world’s worst and most irritating ‘African Jungle Safari’ ever. I may have lost 120 dollars, but I pray that every potential buyer reads this first, I pray that their sales ‘FLOP’, and I pray that they loose a hell lot more that what i’ve lost in buying their stupid games !!!

It’s been a long time since I was so bored and disgusted with a game that I felt compelled to uninstall it and forget about it. This game sucks. Repetitive, tedious, boring and completely uninspired game play. Yeah, the graphics are good, but WHO CARES. Even the nastiest looking games can become best-sellers if they play well, which this doesn’t do (and how!).
I really gave it a chance; I got so annoyed with the long, pointless driving trips, being attacked by random people every 3 mins, having to stop to repair my jeep, being shot at through perfect cover, doing the same missions over and over again that I could only play for 15 mins at a time before getting bored/annoyed. After a half-hour break, I would try again….and have stop after another 15 mins. It was like punishment.
I uninstalled after 3 days of trying…too boring and pointless. I cant believe it’s called ‘ Far Cry’. Ubisoft, get your shit together!!

It is easy to flame Farcry 2 because of allot of things that have been repeatedly dragged through the mud here. As a long time FPS gamer I recognize the shitty AI and the hard to use map, the lack of stealth capabilities and so on. However I do not allow this to take from the rest of the game, you are presented with a massive world which can take forever to cross, (Bus Stations help cut this time down significantly) which is beautiful unto itself. You have a setting that rings a modern day bell and allows one to imagine. And finally you have the animations that yes, you must watch constantly, however this is done to actually try to get you into character, the shitty map was an original idea that while it can use some work does actually succeed in putting you into character. Take it for what it is, its not what it should be but some of it is really good and unique, perhaps FC3 will succeed based on failures this time around. Morrowwind while a great game caused me to burn out quickly due to its messy AI and loops in the rule system, Oblivion was bleah, but Fallout 3 really came together based all the things people didn’t like from the Elderscrolls.

Great review. I have to say, this is without a doubt the worst fucking game I have ever played in my 19 years of being alive.
They rake you in with the commercial you see on TV, only to completely rape you in the ass when you play the actual game. I remember seeing that commercial and thinking, “Wow, that looks like a really kick ass game, i’m gonna have to buy that.” Jesus Christ, Ubisoft should have to give everyone who bought this game a refund. And I just read that this fucking game has sold a million copies. Wow, that is truly sad.
The one thing that I will add that I think you left out in the review is the vehicles. Jesus tits on a log they are the slowest pieces of shit I have ever seen in my life. Seriously, every single vehicle in this game moves like old people fuck. It’s no wonder you spend the whole goddamn game driving, it’s because every vehicle tops out at 35. Well actually, that isn’t true. Enemy vehicles will do well over that when they are chasing you, however, when you take their vehicle after you stop and kill the cocksuckers, it is just as slow as every other one.
This is without a doubt the worst fucking game ever made. I will rip my dick off and throw it in the river before I ever buy another product from Ubisoft.

Why are you all so dumb? This game is awesome. You cant complain about having to run everywhere when you do the same in an MMO. There is no Mini Map cause it is supposed to be Border-line realistic and im pretty sure you dont have a mini map in your brain. Your best mini map is the vehicle GPS and the normal map is awesome cause you dont have to exit the game.. ever..
Sure i do agree that the road blocks will get repetative and the map is almost always needed but i would say i like this Far Cry better than any of the others because its open world.. not boring old linear.
And before you start flaming the game some more (i mean the title Far Cry and its series).. remember this isnt Ubisoft’s game.. its Crytek’s and Ubisoft made this one so dont feel disappointed its not like others because its a totally different approach.
Personally, I say its a buy if your PC cause run it.. if it cant, you suck..

Well I’ve read this page with quite some amusement. Given the the vast majority of reviews I’ve read, the comments from game playing friends of mine and the fact I’m enjoying FC2 immensely I find myself a little non plussed that a person can get themselves so upset to not only write a quite damning review but set up a petition too!
Now as with all gamers I’ve been in the boat of finding that a game that I’ve been looking forward to is not all that I had hoped for. I’ve felt irked at having spent my money on something that has disappointed me but ultimately I’ve found there are more important things in life the get upset/worried about.
It would that the reviewer just abouts hates every feature of the game that the majority of other folks (including me) like because they add immersion to the game. I’m very much a realism freak when it comes to gaming, I’m mainly play Armed Assault and still a little Operation Flashpoint at times. The comment about the Map/GPS in relation to finding diamonds in particular made me chuckle. So the reviewer wants a “Radar” constantly on display? Why?! How easy would that make things? Also as a nod to realism is a big part of FC2 then where it the real world example of this radar? No as the game describes the GPS is able to to pick up tracking signals in the attaches cases. Any real world tracking devices would have to be held in the hand so that’s the way it is in FC2.
Now FC2 is far from perfect I would agree that at time the AI is not right, but not all the time. I’ve seen AI characters to some very stupid and consequently very human things. One guy coming to investigate my Land Rover didn’t see me sneak off and hide, when I lobbed a grenade at him he only heard it land to which he responded by saying “Huh?!” then bending over the long grass where it landed just as it detonated.
Another things that bugs me is the AI respawn at vehicle check points. I would not expect a location to be fully rebuilt and re-manned ten minutes after I’ve torn the arse out of the place with gun fire and grenades. A few hours later perhaps but not simply because I’ve driven past some trigger point 200m up the road.
I can’t help but the feel the reviewer likes a more structured game path and and guidance than FC2 gives with its open ended game design. There’s nothing wrong with that, my girlfriend is the same she like a game to have a definite start, middle and end. But just because a particular person doesn’t like certain features of a game it does not mean the game is bad, it’s just not suited to them.
So what I’m saying here is if you like the reviewer appears to, don’t like free form game designs like FC2 or ArmA then don’t buy them. If on the other hand you like freedom of movement and a sense of reality (to a point, it’s still a game after all!) then don’t hesitate to buy FC2 it’s a great game.

The multiplayer is shit too. You can’t even go prone, you have almost no ammo, your gun breaks after a few minutes of use, Ubisofts maps suck, you cant save your weapons in player matches, and the controls are sticky.
Oh yeah and the grenade launcher is the most cheapest weapon ever concieved.
The Voice acting is unbearable too.

Then again the same will have work for one faction they will stop giving u jobs u go to another called a traitor shoot everyone and shit happens useless fucking game…want to play a game with choices? insane choices like u are hired to shoot one guy but you shoot the guy who hires you instead of the guy you are supposed to shoot and the whole game changes from that point! THat game is called GTA4 but ofcourse its not for kiddies like you its an adult game!

Stealth can be really screwed up in this game, i can sneak by enemies at night pretty easily but ANY attack i make, even if i knife them instantly alerts all enemies within a mile to my area. Jeeps always know where i am, i get stopped by one jeep, kill the two of em, and in seconds two more come and run over me.

Where do you begin with this piece of crap- i didnt buy it i borrowed it off a mate and just fail to understand the point- where is the enjoyment in being hounded by enemies who 3 minutes after killing respawn? How can i drive abt when every 10 seconds im stopping to repair my piece of shit car? It aint even fun its annoying, Also anyone noticed how the side missions are always on the opposite side of the map? Imean Jesus- you drive to an arms dealer in the south and he sends u up north! Go to the one up north and its back to the bottom of the map again! I have cleared the airfield at least 4 times already- i think i have had 3 missions there wtf? Oh and can someone explain to me how the hell you can suffer exposure in the desert at night?- Yesterday i got sick of all the roadblocks etc so decided to take drive around the extremities of the map- it worked, no enemies just cruising the dunes to my destination- all of a sudden the screen went blurry, like malaria. So i stopped and jumped out- next thing the screen blacks out and im shown an animation of me picking myself off the ground and the car was gone???? WHAT THE FUCK- THE MOON WAS OUT!

Oh and i forgot- the gold ak’s are just as shite as the rest of the weapons. i Picked one up on the east of the map early on, i have been doing side missions- only a couple of main ones so far. The gun is all tarnished now and even jams- so whats the point? I bought a brand new one from the dealer killed ten guys now that jams??? Tbh i think i could have made a better game in the time it took them.So many things wrong- how did they not notice?

Well it’s nice to know that at 37 years old, four and a half years of service in the British Army, one divorce and about the be re-married that you in your infinite wisdom consider me to be a child.
That you lot feel the need to get so upset over a GAME and constantly swear (never mind your terrible spelling and grammar) about it amuses me no end. It certainly speaks more about your levels of maturity than mine.
Yes there are a number of elements of the game design that annoy me the same as they do you but I’m still enjoying the game and I don’t feel the need to throw my teddy out of the pram. If you don’t like the game then cut your whining and moaning and go and play something else, there really are far more important things in life to get upset about I can assure you from bitter experience.
Anyway Happy New Year all and do play nicely with the other kids.

Just to add games should be fun and innovative- if u play a game and it annoys you were is the fun in that? Each to their own and all but everyone has a right to their own opinion and its great to hear them all. Look at it this way- a game is released, its sub par- it gets patched. Now if no one mentions the problems how do the dev’s know to fix them? There is a comment above where one minute a guy says the game bugs him- but its still a great game? How? If it bugs you then it has failed surely? You dont pay money to be annoyed by the very product you bought for pleasure, do you? You don’t buy a car and when summat breaks on it say well it looks nice, i can forget the fact the windscreen wipers don’t work do you? If u pay for summat you expect to feel you got your moneys worth and with Far cry 2 i certainly don’t, but as always it’s too late and they have ur money already.

Did it occur to anyone here that getting this patch that you so desperately want might ruin the game for other people that like the game? Sure, you might enjoy it, but the majority of people that love the game could play it and think, “this has been really screwed up”.

To pick up on more “points” that have been made.
The desert exposure issue. Most games that have a landscape of whatever sort usually have an associated map the delineates the area of that world. Therefore the game design must incorporate some kind of mechanism to indicate to the player when they are straying out of the map boundaries. Most World War Two games a la Call of Duty etc. use a minefield system at the map edges to keep the player away. FC2 is using a desert as a boundary, the player suffering heat stroke during the day and exposure due to the cold at night. In answer to another question:-
“Oh and can someone explain to me how the hell you can suffer exposure in the desert at night?”
It is quite well known that deserts are in fact bloody cold at night, that is why the player character suffers ill effects at night. On an historical note during the 1991 Gulf War an SAS patrol callsign Bravo Two Zero was dropped into the Iraqi desert north west of Baghdad with the mission to destroy a fibre optic communications line. Unfortunately the patrol was compromised and they had make their escape northwards towards the Syrian border on foot. Due to intelligence failings they were incorrectly clothed for the conditions, the winter of 1990/91 in that region was one of the wettest and coldest on record. Three members of that patrol lost their lives, one to enemy action during a contact near the Syrian border but the other two to exposure and hypothermia due to the extreme cold. The word “desert” does not exclusively mean “hot”.
When it is a generally accepted feature of many game to use a system to keep the player away from the edge of the map why is it now unacceptable for Far Cry 2 to use such as a system?
Ok now for the issue regarding the weapon “wear & tear/ stoppages” issue, along with the gold AK47. The game manual makes it clear that weapon stoppages and breakages are a feature of FC2. Now more often than not when a game has such a feature it is somewhat exaggerated when compared to real life and FC2 in no exception. Talking from plenty of experience I can assure you that even the best cared for weapon will suffer stoppage at some point in time. It is usually an issue of ammunition feed, a round getting stuck as the working parts try to feed it into the chamber. The cause when referring to most assault rifle is usually either a dodgy/poorly cared for magazine as they can take quite a battering in their lives or one of gas supply to move the working parts. Basically as the weapons fires carbon from the propellant builds up and causes the blockage of the gas vents which then means the working parts don’t receive enough of a kick to move far enough and a stoppage occurs.
FC2 simulates this but it is a game and therefore exaggerated, if stoppages and breech explosions occurred at real world levels it wouldn’t be worth including because it wouldn’t happen often enough. Even a new bought gun in FC2 will wear out with constant use. The solution? The player simply has to go into the storage building next to to arms dealer and swap the weapon being carried with the one that’s hanging on the wall. I’ve not had a stoppage with a purchased weapons since I started doing that.
Right the Gold AK47…. At what point would coating any weapon in gold make it perform and function any better than a standard weapon? Why would the gold prevent it from getting dirty and worn out if it was used? Gold plated weapons a decorative items usually reserved for the likes of morons like Saddam.
It was also said that people wouldn’t buy cars that don’t work very well. Well I agree, I wouldn’t but there are plenty of car enthusiasts out there that do have a love for a particular marque that may not be the most reliable going. But they still buy them anyway for some charm the thing has for them.
I’ve been playing computer games starting on a friends ZX Spectrum for about twenty four years and I have seen and sadly bought some bloody awful games in that time. For all it’s niggles and quirks I can still safely say that Far Cry 2 does not fit in that bracket, it is essentially good game that admittedly does need a few wrinkles ironed out.

Well said Marc! I second everything you said, especially the map boundaries part. Games like halo use invisible barriers. Using invisible barriers would just ruin the game’s system of an attempt at reality. Who, in real life has run into a wall you cant see? The heat stroke/hypothermia is, I think, the best way they could have done it.

The latest patch just screwed up single player. Look at the official Ubi forums. I suffered it too, had to uninstall the game, reinstall it, and NOT let the game install the patch.
The patch makes it so that at 30%, 52% or 84% of the game (may have gotten numbers mixed up) that your game will NOT continue. For example, walking into the APR HQ, no one’s inside, you can’t get out, you’re basically stuck forever.
Granted, this patch only happens to 80% of gamers (inflated statistic for humor effect). I mean, 80% is such a small number, Ubisoft, I can TOTALLY understand why you don’t want to fix it.
By the way, I just got banned from the Ubisoft forums for “abusing the forum rating system.”
Except I didn’t know the forum had a rating system… Apparently I abused something that I didn’t even know existed?

I come from a military engineering background so I can swear in ways you can only dream of. But this is not the place to do it. If you think it makes you appear big and clever I can assure it does not, so if you don’t actually want to sound like the biggest moron on the planet then try actually giving some thought to what you want to say and at least make an attempt to make some valid and intelligent observations. If you can’t do that then don’t bother saying anything at all and so save us all the bother of reading it. Oh and why not try a little spelling and punctuation in 2009? Go on be a devil!

FM I appreciate that a fair number of people are genuinely disappointed with the game, there’s no denying that. I do feel as a group you are in the minority however as the majority of what I have seen online and among my f riends and aquantances that own the game on either PC, PS3 and XBox 360 are on the whole very happy with it myself included. I’m about 18 hours into the game and despite a few small issues I have with it (enemy respawn for example) I am absolutely loving it . When I read a lot of the comments written on here it’s almost as if I’m reading about a completely unrelated game. there are people on here that have openly said they stopped playing after 20mins or 45 mins. How on earth can any person make a reasoned appraisal in that space of time? Hardly enough time to get through the options and set up!
I don’t have issue with people not liking the game, each to their own and all that. What I have issue with is people gobbing off like idiots, constantly swearing and generally having the articualtion of a trogladyte, indeed a trogladyte that appears to have had a serious blow to the head to boot. Also remember the full stop and the apostrophe are your friends! ;o)

Ok fine you guys don’t like the game but does it really need language such as”it’s shit” blah, blah, blah… How about trying to be a little more articulate? FC2 patently isn’t viewed as “shit” by a great many people out there numbering myself among them. Games, musical taste and films are a very personal and subjective issue regards what each individual may like or dislike. A great many people who say they want FC2 changed appear to have no regard for those such as me who like it on the whole just the way it is. As I have stated before it is certainly not beyond improvement, I would like to see the factions behaving in a rather more believable manner, I’d like the option to be able to bluff my way through vehicle checkpoints rather than it being a shoot on sight situation every time. Yes the missions could do with a little more flesh on their bones they are rather predictable. But even so I and many others are enjoying FC2 very much and will carry on to complete the game. I can’t honestly think of any games that I own that I would consider perfect. For example I love Armed Assault, the online community in my opinion is second to none and the quality of the user content is quite outstanding, all that building upon the similar slow and steady success of Operation Flashpoint a game which I still play nearly eight years after it was first released. But neither of those two games were anywhere near perfect in their original states with a good many bugs including quite dire original MP code. But each has a certain quality beyond my interest in the subject matter that has kept me playing them. Another example of what I consider to be awful in a game is in fact Crysis and allied to that the original Far Cry. Both games had solid real world settings during the early sections, I loved creeping through the undergrowth in Crysis fighting the North Koreans but sadly the game took a serious nose dive once the alien phase of the game was entered. All sense of tactics disappeared and the thing became and on rails borefest for me. But that did not cause me to throw a hissy fit and behave like a spoiled child lashing out at anyone they disagreed with me. In fact I didn’t post anything online about my feelings regards that game because although I was very disappointed by the latter part of the game that did not change the fact that I still rated the early part very highly. Now you guys appear to be able to find no redeeming features in FC2, which is a shame but I recognise that is the way you feel. The lesson for you there is simply to take it on the chin, sell your copy of the game and move on if you don’t feel the the producers will (if indeed they are even able to) patch the game to what you expected. Just those of you that are guilty of coming across like a bunch of socially inept ADHD sufferers please try and air your grievances in a more thoughtful and less abusive manner.

Regards the Aliens in Crysis (and the Trigens in Far Cry for that matter) I was citing them as an example as something I didn’t like, the gameplay in Crysis took a major nose dive once the player entered the mountain. But I did not go getting over the top and hating the entire game over it. With FC2 from what I’ve read here many people come over as just jumping on the band wagon and spouting hatred for the game without further explaining why, they just gob off with a load childish bile and venom. Even though the more articulate FC2 haters explained what they didn’t like about the game the vast majority of the points raised (the driving, the minimap/GPS, the various animations and the weapon wear & tear/stoppages) are actually features I really like in fact to remove they would be to remove much of the core of what FC2 was designed to be.
I will always maintain with a difference of opinion such as this over any game, music or film that if you don’t like it then don’t play it. I don’t like ABBA or Eminem but I recognise they are/were talented artists and many people do like, I however would not choose to listen to them if I was paid to. The same goes for games, if I don’t like it I don’t play it, I’m not going to throw a wobbler like a petulent child and make all sorts of wild demends especially when it is apparent that the vast majority of people actually like the game.

Maybe you dont have STEAM games but they take out patches every month ..and the owners of the servers need to update themselves, thats how it is..lazy server admins can have empty servers the rest will update . … the changes people appear to want would changes most of the features that make FC2 what it is and why I like it. I wouldn’t call my experience thus far buggy, FC2 has design decision issues sure but not what I would call bugs in the traditional sense of the word.
The issues that you cited as disliking in your review would require a major redesign of the game to change. Now you have to ask yourself when many of the things you don’t like are design orientated rather than bugs what do you honestly think the chances of Ubisoft making changes that dramatic to the structure of the game? Now you might not like it but the fact is that in the great scheme of things yourself and others that don’t like many of FC2’s core features are relatively small in number compared to the number of people who have bought the game and are enjoying it. I’m afraid to say it simply isn’t going to happen. What that ultimately means is that all the posturing and complaining on here is futile. The best you can hope for is some gameplay balancing patches addressing some of the AI and weapon balancing complaints that I do agree need looking at. Like I said before I’d love to see more range in the missions types, the ability to use brain instead of brawn sometimes, eg bluffing your way past vehicle checkpoints instead of shooting and to have the power levels of various weapons to be tweaked to make things more realistic, hitting a person at five metres with twenty rounds of 7.62mm x 54R from a PKM really should drop a person!
I do hope you achieve some measure of success with these issues but you really are not going to get the level of changes you seem to want.

I don’t understand this “make the game fun fo your self”- shit. For example; if you buy a mortar and try to “nuke” a guardpost all you get is everyone running towards your position (when I’m miles away), and cars trying to run over you. The AI just fucks up the game so you can’t “make it fun for your self”. Sniping? Everybody knows where you are after the first shot (doesn’t matter how far away you are). Trying to kill someone whit a knife? One down and the rest running towards you.

I used to get this weird headache when I used to play it..can u believe it I uninstalled the game at 80% ya..it only gets worse…every damn friend you make ends up dead for no good reason…friends dont do shit for u except coming and saving u once and then you have to find some safe house and ask them to come again. The phone only has incomming calls u cant call anyone at all and friends dont come out of any building , they are always indoors except when they come to meet you. There is NO ONE except mercernaries..no civilians or villagers walking around.

Okay, i feel really bad. I recommended this game to 5+ people and they all brought it, we’re all dissapointed with the game, what the hell happened Ubisoft? This was defo one of them hyped up bullshit games. It had big potential, i would actually rather the game if they made it more linear.. The online is just terrible, the servers might aswell just close now. I highly doubt they will be patching the game for the console versions and fixing everything, afterall this is Ubisoft Montreal we’re talking about, the creators of the repetitive AC & new PoP, they just obviously do NOT know how to create a game, they should fucking hire a kid as a director, they’d probably make a decent game then.
Ubisoft Montreal = BIGGEST DEVELOPER FAILUREZZZZZ.

I think it is pitiful how someone running an MMO blog complains that Far Cry 2 is repetitive. I always assume that people who play MMO’s must have an enormous, MASSIVE capacity for repetition since ALL YOU EVER DO IS GRIND, GRIND, GRIND!
The irony…at least in Far Cry the graphics and weapons are engaging enough to keep most people coming back – as evidenced by the game’s universal appraise.
MMO’s like World of Warcraft has you endlessly going on boring quests, crafting stupid items, and you have to do it all in the game’s terrible-looking world.
This review is a joke, just like MMO’s are a joke.

This is probably the last time I will post as I’m not that fond of expelling negative energy. lol But just to the people saying we should be doing something better with our time then complaining or whining about a game, that is very hypocritical of you. -Map Travel- You might say “Well you wanted a large map and now you complain about having to travel it?” Well, there is absolutely nothing interesting about the map. What is there to find? It’s not like Morrowind for example where when you travel you know you might find valuable or interesting items. There’s nothing to find! Also, this makes me laugh, you can’t go exploring for long, because you’ll suffer from “Molaria”. Kind of defeats the purpose eh?
I’m frustrated that despite all they’re attempts to make this game realistic, the ejection port is on the wrong side, it is required to fire an entire magazine of .45 cal rounds into a man without a shirt to kill him.
-The enemies never change/Always the same
-You have to travel to bus stops to teleport to other places in the map…Use your mind and figure out whats wrong with that.
-Missions are completely repetitive
-You’re constantly under attack, you can never enjoy the scenery
-Molaria is so troublesome and ridiculous I can’t believe it’s in the game.
I was very surprised to see how many people actually enjoy this game, despite so many things being wrong to me. I could LITERALLY go on for 20,000 words about the things wrong with this game. In the end, if you enjoy the game, good for you, I’m just expressing my opinion of the game. I’m done here, and I hope every one takes care.

I started farcry2world.com hoping I would like the game.
I put so much time and effort into making that site.. I suppose I could use the backend for other sites… What a waste of time and effort though… The only people that seem to go on there are kids spamming the forums.
There is a lot of information on there that I painstakingly added over 3 months constant work.
I think Ubisoft should be sued… Farcry 2 should have never been called Farcry … PERIOD
Ubisoft used the name simple to make more money, they spent loads and loads of cash advertising this game, I think they knew deep down it was going to be a huge mistake.
Why didn’t they release any news or information about Multiplaer until a week prior to release ? Because it is pants thats why… I was deeply shocked when I launched the Muliplayer…. What an anticlimax, it was unplayable.
The single player wasn’t that much better either, loads and loads of repetition and deja vu. It was a mixture of Grandtheft Auto and Africa on a bad scale, all the missions were the same… boring. I only managed to play 8hours before I had enough.
I started to ask myself if this was just me ? Initially it was and I stopped adding news to farcry2world.com and uninstalled the game. A few months have passed and I found farcry2sux.com and im glad to see it to be honest.

Do I think Ubisoft will listen ? nope.. unfortunately they say that they don’t care… 80% of buyers wont complain 19% will moan a little and will continue to buy Ubisoft titles… and it would seem we are the 1% that they would rather not like to mention.

When I first played the game, I thought it was incredible. Although I like several aspects of it, the negative ones definitely outweigh them. Here are my biggest complaints:
Every single person in the game wants to kill you! Aside from weapon dealers and your “buddies,” there are virtually no average civilians. This makes going to and fro absolute HELL! After you’ve just spent about half an hour clearing out some big camp and think you just want to go back to your safe house, you have to go through a dozen more camps and bases. And what’s more, when you have people on your tail and bring them to another camp, they all just join together and are after you! So it feels like you’re “Africa’s most wanted” anywhere you go.
The whole first person everything is a pretty good idea, but poorly delivered. It is annoying to watch your “buddy” come to your rescue every single time you fall in battle! It is practically the same every time- he picks you up, black out again, see him shoot, hands you gun. There is no variety at all! Healing yourself by pulling stuff out of your arms and legs is a neat thing at first, but gets annoying and predictable.
The action also has its bad parts. First of all, the damage system is way off balance. It can take more than 3 shotgun blasts at close range to kill someone, unless it is a dead on headshot, yet just ONE sniper shot can kill on any part of the body! The assault weapons are weak too; you can spend up to 5 seconds killing someone with an assault weapon while aiming directly at them! Also, the incredible fire that can be produced is commonly wasted. You’d think that you can take out a majority of the people in a base/camp by starting it on fire, but no, in fact, the only times I remember actually killing someone with fire is by throwing a Molotov cocktail directly at them. The blade works efficiently for what you need it for, but when there are people on the ground and you go to stab them, you do the same move every time. There is apparently no stealth in the game either. As you mentioned, the silenced weapons don’t really fulfill their purpose. Also, in Pala, the cease fire zone, I once killed a guy in a mission with the blade. No one else was in the alley, yet somehow they managed to hear it slice through him.
Going back to the first point I mentioned, people for some reason ALWAYS go back to the camps/bases no matter how many times you clear them all out. Even at safe houses you can find people still waiting to kill you. Cars come speeding out of nowhere toward you, with the sole intent to kill you. How this could possibly make sense is beyond me. Although it is helpful when you’re in the middle of nowhere and need a ride, it is not something that makes the game particularly enjoyable. Speaking of which, the game world as a whole is extremely tricky to find your way around. The map is useless unless you’re in a town or some other location which automatically narrows the perimeters down. You cannot zoom in on the map and the icons on the large scale view are hard to read. I frequently get lost and sidetracked by all the different paths you can take.
The gameplay on Live is awful. That’s really all there is to it. It’s not even worth reviewing, it’s just that bad.
The map editor is one of the only truly GOOD elements of the game as a whole. Although it does have some flaws, the other map editor systems, for example, Halo’s forge, do not compare with it.
I think that the concept and ideas behind the game would be terrific with an enormous amount of improvement, but for now there are still several aspects that make Far Cry 2 repetitive, boring, and a waste of money.

If you say that Crytek has co created this game… why did’t they make it like Far Cry 1 or Crysis. Far Cry 1 was awesome. The soft beaches, tropical water effects, the sun’s lens flare effects, vegetation, and draw distance were all great thanks to the 1st gen cry engine. Crysis was even more incredible cause it used the 2nd gen Cry engine. You could also use the vegetation for stealth, and the Ai was also good. And the best thing is, they both used a great navigation tool.
Far Cry 2 just sucks. They failed to see what gamers want from a game and went about their own way designing it. 1st we want gameplay, then a good storyline and then lastly graphics. We want ‘Form Following Function’. FC2 has good graphics no doubt, but it not even comparable to Far Cry 1 or Crysis. Moreover, it has totally neglected gameplay and has a lousy storyline. Buying a game for its graphics is like judging a book by its cover.
I went back to the used games store after just 3 hours of gameplay and demanded my money back. They charged me a $ 5 rental fee though and gave me resistance 2 instead (awesome game btw) And I did see FC2 just pile on at their store with the prices reduced. Meaning…. This Game SUCKS !!!

It’s so good to read a review from someone who knows what they are talking about. This whole game is depressing as it had everything to make it a good game but was destroyed by so many fatal flaws. Whats the point of a game built perfectly for stealth when you can’t at all use stealth.

Terrible game. I received it as a gift, and had really been looking forward to it. What a disappointment… Everything has already been noted earlier in this thread, except perhaps for the hamfisted Jeep product placement. What the hell are brand new Liberties and Wranglers doing driving around Africa? I dunno why Jeep would put their name on this, the freaking cars can’t even go faster than 45 miles an hour. Pure crap. Why put vehicles in the game if they aren’t fun to drive?
Every review I looked at painted this as “a near perfect gaming experience.” Looking at them now, they read almost like press releases. The same line about “the most immersive FPS game ever” was repeated a lot. Were the reviewers bought off?
It seems like a full court press by Ubisoft cover their asses for this crap game. It’s almost like they saw they success of GTA4’s marketing blitz, but didn’t bother putting together a product that was even remotely playable. GTA4 did NOT deserve much of the critical acclaim it received. But it was still a good game, in spite of the heavy -handed storyline.
Enough of this rant. At least I wasn’t the only one who bit into the FC2 turd sandwich.

Far Cry 2 is fine. All you whingey US/Eurotrash loser boneheads have no appreciation. This game was meant to REFLECT REAL life, as far as possible. It is spot on in reflecting Africa – I know cos I live in Africa, some of the foreign dialogue is pretty funny if you can understand it – I can understand it all (kudos for me). Why dont you guys take a vacation or leave your Cuntries for once in your life. Stop bitching and moaning about a game because it reflects real life. And yes, if ANY of you REAL MEN have ever had ANY REAL MILITARY training, sometimes it takes more than 1 bullet from a crappy M190 sniper rifle (among others) to take down someone, even to the head. (Uncle SAM doesnt want you, losers!)

I’m a soldier “Suverenog”! I have shot taliban soldiers in Afghanistan with my AG3. I assure you – they die with only one bullet! In FC2 you have to empty your mag to kill a man. Btw “Suverenog”: M190 is a pistol, not a sniper rifle.
As for the the “REFLECT REAL life” in Africa. I’ve been stationed in Kongo. I saw people there! Not “soldiers of fortune”. I saw civilians living under degrading standards. There’s no life in FC2, only angry dumb soldiers shooting at you – and ONLY you!
And how “real” is a looping annimation of you removing a bullet from different parts of your body? Or tightening a knot on the engine over and over again to fix the car?
If the developers were looking for realizm, why aren’t you able to go up to the guard posts and talk your way through? What makes your player any different from the other goons in the game? They aren’t being shot at, why should you be?
I know the cab driver says the civilians have fled the country in the opening scene. But he also says the cab drivers are still there. How thrilling is it that everything you see in “Africa” is an enemy. Shoot first, ask questions later is a frase that comes to mind – except you don’t need to ask questions later because there’s no chance in hell the guy you shot was a civillian!! I only wish my days in Afghanistan were like that!

And who the hell made up the idea of making a realistic game? You play games to get away from everyday life!
Picture FC3:
-You’re a soldier in Africa.
-You get in a car after first opening the door. Then you turn the egnition and put it in “drive”. If your engine is shot to pieces you have to drive to the nearest workshop and manually insert the new parts. You’d ofcourse have to fill gas before the tank is empty.
-When you get shot you’re fucked because the game is realistic. The pain and shock makes you almost unable to move so the enemy can kill you without any effort.
-You’d also have to stop to go to the toilet on regular bases.
and so on……
Don’t come here and whine about how stupid we are to actually crticise FC2. In my opinion anyone who likes this game are people who play too many games. People who have their entire life revolving around a computer. People who “appriciate the dept of detail” built in to a game. You should get out more and get a life. Normal people don’t like games where you have to make the gameplay your self. We don’t all have the retarded imagination of a prepubescent computer geek. Most of us buy games for entertainment and expect a few hours entertainment when we spend 70$.

The thing I hate the most about FC2 is that it’s an insult to mature gamers. There’s no gore in this, just unrealistic blood splash. Pretty much the only thing that elevates it above Teen titles is the insipid expletive-laden dialogue.

To all the people writing in this forum, who dedicated their time to talk about a game that almost no one on the internet cares about.
your opinions are of little matter here on the internet, if you want to complain got to a websie like gamespot.com and vote your opinion of the game it dosent matter what you think or the ideas you have Ubisoft is not going to listen to you at all even if you send a letter telling them how pissed off you are about the game. they only care about their score on which more than several magazines gave. in some of the original farcry games they had bio-organic weapons and also your character inherited great strength and speed.
there is no such thing as a great ideal thing in life there may come some good but that is just a term many people like to call, “the eye before the storm” as many gamers where disappointed about the making and gameplay of farcry 2, there is nothing else anyone can do until Ubisoft adds content to fix all the crap that screwed the game up or make a Farcry 3 that would exceed Fc2.
so please save your time in complaning and go vote the score you believe Ubisoft should really be reward, to all the Pc gamers, there are many substitutes to Fc2 so go and find a title you may enjoy and stop complaining, because it’s pathetic even for “mature gamers”

Seriously this game could use a few game play patches to make it better. If i was Ubi i would do these 4 things to makes this game better.
1. Fix some AI Glitches, -
Spawning is ridiclious, once you scope a enemy site it should last at least a week or more. Game-play time. Make some improvement on the amount per shot for a kill i mean some people claim about shooting dudes maybe 10 times? and they don’t fall? Is there super steroids in africa, they should be weak by the weather anyways. More Stealth situations where you can hide and or approach where you can slit there neck to kill them. Last on Ai make some more mission’s more things to do in this world.
2. Add more Animals – Gators,Fish,Rabbits,Dogs,Cheetah?? etc…. I mean this africa no Chetah’s???? Water Buffalos, Snakes would rock. More Deer, Zepbrahs, Yes and i think you should be able to have a pet dog, like Fallout 3.
3. Vehicles- I know africa is rugged thats why the vehicles are but i think there should be some more effects , tires blow off, you can fill up your tank and run out of gas, etc… They really need to finish the track around the whole map and add a train with living space saves on the train would be superb.
4. Civilians -
Add more civilans that you could either talk with and or help find things are do stuff for. Last but not least they should be able to use the cell phone to talk with buddies you have in this game, so you can get them to a situation in a mission that is quite numerous with enemeies,
-i find it quite annoying to drive all the way somewhere to complete a mission and die then have to do the whole thing over or run off way somewhere to save the game in a house. All in All these few things would solify this game. But with out this, the game is kinda a wreck and i see the negative aspect. But im not gonna dis this game it is still a diamond in a ruff , but needs some help. Im still having fun playing it but get fustrated by some of these bad things that ruin this game. I still love the concept of the open world Fps and the graphics, guns are amazing. Two good things on this game.

This game should be named Action Tutorial 2, for an open world game it is doing everything it can to stop you exploring Africa. All the bad design decisions, stupid and pretentious story and idiocratic gameplay elements aside, there is one thing that sucked almost all my will to live out of me and that are the controls. They are so sluggish and after cod 4 there is absolutely no reason for any developer to replicate such pinpoint precision controls ! It’s the final nail in FC2’s coffin !

You really are all idiots. You prove it be saying things such as “I played it for 45 minutes then returned it.” Personally, I love this game. Best campaign I’ve played in a long time. Here are my reasons: 1. It lasts more than 8 hours (the usual duration of most shooters). 2. Completely free roaming…go where you want, do what you want. 3. Somewhat realistic. 4. Alot more that I don’t feel like listing. So many of you complain about how it’s repetitive which is true to some extent, but the fun is in going to new places and approaching the fight by new methods. Many of you have said how it’s lame how everyone shoots you on sight…that is weird at first, but your character gains a reputation…no one wants you alive and everyone knows who you are. The thing about this game is it’s different than most shooters. There’s not much of peeking your head around a corner only to get shot by a shotgun (Vegas 2). If you’re looking for pure nonstop action, then this isn’t the game for you, it’s an exploration type of game. And honestly, most all shooters are very repetitive, they just don’t have traveling. Fire is amazing in the game too. That’s all I have to say.

I played it for about an hour and gave up as it just did not have a good feel about it that I could not put my finger on. The author of this review got it spot on.
Looking back at FC1, I think that one of the biggest missing elements of FC2 is the lack of ultimate fear or sense of forboding. I dunno, maybe because I live in Africa, but to me running……driving around in the African bush shooting at mercinaries/rebels is just not something I find exciting about a game.
Sneeking about, sh1t scared that some genetically modifiied ape is going to rip your arms off… now that’s exciting.
Anyways, gave the game to my son who is eleven and he seems to like it, but as I saw in an earlier reply….. “noobs will like FC2″ and I have been playing PC games for 15 years.

I’m SO glad I’m not the only one that feels this way! I blew the dust off my Xbox 360 copy (I hadn’t played since November) and decided to give it another shot. I quickly remembered why I stopped playing it the first time around. Why does everyone shoot at you no matter what? Why would they make the map so big? Why are there so many mountains between me and my mission? Why did I buy before renting? SHOOT ME….everyone else already does!

I prefer to explore areas with interesting things to find (besides diamonds and ranting psycho tapes). There are way better exploration games than FC2. It’s not even in the top ten. Just having a big area to traverse is meaningless if there’s nothing going on to speak of.

This game sucks so hard I think it gve me cancer.
I actually feel like crying at the thought of the graphic artists’ good work going to waste in this piece of shit.
The graphics are amazing, props to the GFX department!
But all the other relevant points hve been correctly adressed:
- The AI blows.
- The huge world ready to be explored is as thrilling like a daytrip to a botanic garden with your grandparents.
Only that there’s retards shooting at you every once in a while whose retard strength give them the power to absorb 3 bullets to their foreheads.
- The cars handle like a soapbox and it’s ZERO fun driving around the jungle.
- The use of the “mini”-map navigation makes you feel very very very uncomfortable.
Far Cry 2 is like 2girls1cup except theres no 2 girls.
Avoid this stinkbomb AT ALL COST.

I felt the same way when I started this game but it’s as addictive as they come.
It took 60 plus hours the first time 50 plus the second and I’m playing it again. thats a lot of value for the price. I loved it!
Yes it is hard even on easy! After you get the feel of it you will be playing on hard core and powning the AI’s.
I just went everywhere with the map out and it was fine. I got good at changing weapons and killing.
This game is about stratagy, thinking fast and moving faster. I recomend it to anyone who wants a challenge and isnt a pussy.
I don’t expect this to even get on the site though looks like the only people who wrote on the thread are the people who hated the game. One thing
I din’t see is anyone who had anyhting good to say about any game my geuss is these are the people who hate everyhting. Enjoy!

I wish I had read this site before purchasing the game. I was amazed by the first Far Cry. This one is very disappointing. I am playing on XBox 360 and the game will not retain my saved games. Very frustrating to have to begin all over again from the church.

I waited years for this and I could not be more disapointed. I hate this game. The map covers the screen and all the pointless driving sux. Not to mention the malaria thing pisses me off. Yay! Writer gets 10/10 far cry 2 gets 0/10. You heard me. ZERO. It just doesn’t make sense. Just lie down, close your eyes and think about the plot (there isn’t one) actually happening. How ridiculous. Haven’t had any save issues so far (that’s coz i played for only a day). Crytek did a great job with Far cry. Holy shit, Ubisoft, you deserve to go bankrupt. As for ratings I can’t believe it too. They paid all of the major sites?

Spot on mate, couldn’t agree more. Got this game on steam for £30 (a lot more than many other, better games) and now I’m regretting it.
The combat and animation feels fake as hell and stands out quite a bit against the realistic graphics.
I played it for 5 hours and nothing seemed to change, still getting attacked by stupid guards at posts.
I think the most fun I had, was when I first played it.. I just walked around admiring the nice scenery… then I got raped by some random guards, ruined the only fun (if you wanna call it that) I had.
Also, is it me or do the NPC’s talk way too fast?
This game hates you.

The game has a few flaws, fine. Flaws are an inescapable fact of life. Why is the silenced pistol way more accurate than my silenced MP5 with accuracy upgrade? The MP5 has a much longer barrel. Therefore, it should at least be equally accurate. Yet while I can rely on my pistol to hit my target 100% of the time, as long as I’m lined up, even when the target is smaller than the individual sights, I can’t rely on my MP5 at half that range. Doesn’t make sense. Yes, this is a problem. But I deal.
The rest of you, what a lot of you have a problem with is that Far Cry 2 plays tough love. Far Cry 2 does not hand everything to you on a silver platter, which is what a lot of what you are whining about comes down to. Waaah, I can’t travel cross country without getting shot at! Fine, I admit, patrols are excessive. JUST AVOID THEM. Waaah, vehicles suck because the driving sucks or the enemies see me from too far when I am in one. THEN DON’T USE VEHICLES. WALK, RUN AND SPRINT. Waaah, the game doesn’t teleport me where I want to go. JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE. Jesus Christ did Oblivion spoil us or what? Now everybody wants to be immediately teleported to the mission because they want EVERYTHING HANDED TO THEM. Waaah, I can’t play a stealth game. WELL I’M DOING IT FINE. HIDE IN SHADOWS, NOT BROAD DAYLIGHT. RELOCATE AFTER A SHOT. Look, they don’t know where you are, but they know where the shot came from. They move toward the direction of the shot while slightly fanning out. If you move out of the area they search, they will probably not find you. Or hell, move into denser cover AND STOP MOVING. I’ve had enemies stop 5 feet away from me, look in my direction, turn around and comment about how I’ve disappeared and I’m playing on the hardest difficulty. If anything, this is retarded.
Look, if you want dumb action where everything is automatically handed over to you just because you asked for it, go play Gears 2. Far Cry 2 makes you earn what you want.

Ubisoft screwed everyone with this game!!! Tell you what people, pirate this game for free….don’t waste your money!! I dont even think its worth the free tag either….tons of glitches, computer crashing constantly (I have a pretty hot machine too) Even the steam version sucks!! Shame on steam for selling this game and i love steam! I smell a nice class action suit here…if not that, ubis going down in the books as a bunch of asswipes!!!

dudes the game is about the story for me, bitchin’ story, just wicked, however not enough gore, when i shoot someone in the head they should be fucked pretty up pretty badly. but i mean other than all my friends dying halfway though the game i liked this game, as for the driving part, TAKE THE FUCKEN BUS, holy shit it teleports you to any corner of the map and saves you all that time. so its not an amazing game, however its not as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

I agree with everyone that this is a boring, repetitive, shitty game. Good graphics runied by a shitty experience. You know a game is bad when you have to MAKE yourself play it. Ubisoft’s latest games are all the same; assassins creed, far cry 2, price of persia. Good graphics, repetitive gameplay.

ok ok some of it sucks but some of it is so fun like killing people with snipers and all the different wicked guns, its not that boring driving as u always need 2 stop 2 take out these small villiages and cars drive after u it rules and the graphics rule, it sucks sometimes like when the ai look somewhere else shoot and it hits u WTF? but then the realism is mostly so cool u have 2 buy this GAME ITS AWESOME!

I feel victim to this game far before i found this review. I hated this game from the second some asshole started shooting at me when i was driving through a checkpoint or village or whatever. i couldnt get a friggen break from being shot at, and checking the map every few second was ridiculous. i know they wanted to make a realistic game, but radars on the HUD is a must, and not many people still uses paper maps anyway. Fuck thsi game

Agreed completely, My idiot of a brother liked this game due to graphics but he doesn’t care about gameplay, So he liked it due to nextgen graphics and since I am different who is expecting gameplay I feel sorried to have spent money on this piece of crap, I am a big fan of the FC series but this one sucks and I feel it’s sequels are gonna be as bad as this shit as well v_v
Alas I still retain my FC1 copy somewhere and I will replay it again and enjoy the golden moments of it.

Yep this game is absolutely terrible. Very boring and infuriatingly irritating. They made a complete balls-up of this one. Fallout 3 on the other hand, is brilliant – and I’m usually not into that kind of thing ( thinking etc.)

I wish I had read this review before buying the game, i spent 4 hours on it and never played it again, ive never felt so mentally drained and frustrated by a game since rainbow six vegas 2, it seems theres a pattern to all ubisoft games.. a/ Full of bugs b/ a feeling of a very unfinished, very rushed game c/ half arsed graphics d/ laughable storylines e/ Horrible horrible horrible gameplay. I don’t even know where to begin on the AI and their constant respawning and the random encounters will ensure you dont feel like even getting half way through the game before putting the controller down to change game. The lesson being NEVER BUY UBISOFT GAMES (Apart from GTA4 which wasn’t THAT fun anyway.. But i won’t say it was a bad game i enjoyed playing it for a while.)!! Rainbow six and Farcry 2 can only be described as forced analingus with barry white.

Boy, if I was to write a review on FarCry 2, I would do it EXACTLY like you did… then I would add some more crappy stuff. This game is shit. Actually, it’s diarrhea. The biggest waste of time in the entire world. I was just doing those same missions over and over in hope for salvation, and when I finally thought that something new happens, I was simply moved to another ‘main-map’ and started repeating quests again. And the stupid animations scenes… cut me a break! I don’t wanna see myself knocking on doors and stuff. It’s a game, not a movie. It may look cool in a trailer, but when you need to sit through it for the million time, its annoying. Oh and the horrible save system… how many hours of gaming I lost due to the save system, why is there no auto save??? Plus, even though the game has TONS of weapons, many of them are not practical or simply the same…. absolute waste of time and money.

I can’t wait to see him dissapointed.
I keep telling him to buy Oblivion or Fallout3, the cool games. But he just relies on graphics and not the actual gameplay.

Also Far Cry was better than this piece of shit. At least I could enjoy the game somewhere on a tropical island with original storyline, not some goddamn piece of crap where you just drive, walk, shoot all the time. I just described 99% of the game in one sentence. Multiplayer? Come the fuck on. It sucks goddamn balls. God bless steam games like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source, Garry’s Mod that actually don’t have some kind of storyline but they kick goddamn ass and have solid multiplayer.

Yeah, I’ve been playing a rented copy today on 360 and I was thinking the exact same thing. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the game *sucks* (I just finished playing RE5 which is one of the worst pieces of shit i’ve played in years) but there are some annoying aspects to it.

Ok, I hate to say it , but I agree for the most part. I actually only bought this game for the multiplayer and the map editor (which is amazing btw) That is where you will get your money’s worth. But to add to the list of complaints, NO SPLIT SCREEN!!??!!!??? WTF… thats all i can say is WTF… Halo 3 managed to include splitscreen co op, and allow up to three guests to play online with you, (along with the standard vs splitcreen). At least you could have pulled that off, i mean, what better way to show off your badass maps than to show your buddies spiltscreen style. Ubisoft dropped the ball just a tad.

soon people will want something to strap on their snails while their playing for extra satisfaction. Then they will find bugs in that. ‘it doesn’t zap me hard enough’ or ‘it’s to big and it slips off all the time’.
I think quality should be controlled by monkeys because they are the ones that know what poo really tastes like.
I remember playing duke nukem 3d via dial up modem so i’m quite happy with where far cry 2 is at, in fact apart from some annoying gameplay bugs, its a work of art, like a painting, but you can enter it and walk around for as long as you want, for $50. A hooker last week cost me $50 and she was no where near a ‘work of art’ although i did enter her and move around for a bit, but had a 30 min time limit, that’s not good. You people just don’t think outside the box.

This review only gives an opinion of the single player campaign (which I agree is shockingly bad), but the multiplayer, in my opinion, is the best a FPS has ever seen. It has kept me occupied for over 10 days total online play in which I have made it into the top 100 on nearly all the leaderboards. When I jump into a lobby I can be guaranteed there is at least one person who I know and who knows me. I have made some of my best Xbox live friends while playing. I am very happy with this game and the £50 I payed for the limited edition.

could not agree more, paid about 60$ for a USED COPY, and just got pissed of at ubisoft, it dosent have anyting to do whit far cry 1, which sux, cuz far cry 1 was a pretty good fps, but far cry 2 is just bullshit, like malaria, a “free roaming game” shouldent have shit like that, thats part of the free roaming experiance… but what pisses me of most is the fucking repitive missions, get a job, drive kill someone and drive back… over and over again, and the bad AI is almost worse, im just so happy you people feel the same way, thought it only was me

Im no expert, I was trying to save and it wouldnt, I would waste half my life, getting somewhere, go to work come back to have another go to find the previous day wasnt there. But overall it is a poor excuse for a game on all aspects, I just want to play for the sport, this was a waste of money, time and brain cells., Should have looked at this site first would not have bought it, better off drinking guinness at least its healthier than this pile.

Wow,i cant believe how many people reacted to this blog and like,almost everyone here thinks the game sucks ass! Hahaha thats awsome,i hope ubisoft will take note of this.I was also very dissapointed,its just all about the graphics.The gameplay felt clunky, the driving was a headache,the aiming was a bitch and the kamikaze jeeps just plain annoying.You play as bad-ass mercenary but you cant sprint more than 20 meters without almost fainting! The thing i hated the most about this piece of crap was that you got a butt-ugly,saggy titted lesbo-bitch as a “best buddy”…Wtf is that buddy thing about anyway,are we back in kindergarden?….you are my bestest buddy and you are my 2nd bestest buddy….yaaaaaaaaay…seriously…wtf?I shot her in the face and left her to die first chance i got,that was the best part of the whole game.

Yup Far Cry 2 sucks balls!
I gave it a chance, I even installed Win7 to play it with DX10.
I wasted around 8hrs playing I mean working on this game.
Drive around in a crap car that breaks.
Get shot at by stupid AI
Get a bus
Buy some guns from a computer> then go pick’em up.
And if u try and run your character get’s tired after 10meters! WTF I can run my fat ass at least a 500m before I get tired.
If your looking for volunteer work, work on this game.
Far Cry 1 is way better, and it’s 5 years old!

So i decided to play Farcry 2 after seeing i had no more games in my collection to play….
I played it for about an hour…it sucks! Ok so i gave it a second chance…there i was happy that the tutorial had finished so i could explore the whole game
WRONG!
I reached the next enemy and the game f***in decides to throw in a ‘fix-jam’ tutorial when im 2m from a guy. So i die (quite happily tbh) and witness some random guy i met in the bar revive me. So there we are stuk in a village full of mad men who you can’t see unless they shoot you! The partner decides to die and the game decides to tell me the million and one things u can do to him (all i wanted to do was tea-bag the bastard). So there i was trying to revive him – the only reason i did so was for a 30G achievement =] Meanwhile i watched my complete health bar drain to shit and i died once again. Oh wats that ‘Load last save’? FUCK YOU! i spent about 15minutes getting to where i was and they’re telling me i have to drive all that way again? Seriously, im a big fan of Ubisoft but this game should never be brought up under their list of titles…EVER!

I’ve been playing for about 20 minutes, and my first instinct was to jump on google and type “Farcry 2 sucks.”
The map is frustrating, but it’s manageable and adds a certain level of realism that I can appreciate.
For me, the deal breaker is the controls. I just can’t see myself spending any significant amount of time playing a game where I’m CONSTANTLY forced to either battle with the controls or accept a very awkward view. Running around staring slightly at the ground, or the sky, is very fucking frustrating. If you want realism, give me real control over my character’s view. When I want to look straight forward, I look straight forward. When I want to look up, I look up. My focus snaps right to whatever I want to see. In Farcry 2, positioning the view up or down is a fucking chore.

played like 1h and got frustrated. the map system sucks. i am new in the land and EVERYBODY starts firing at me. most times i don’t even see the shooter, the animation doesn’t help too much, so i stop and stare to find the shooter then empty my gun before he dies. finding diamonds is shit because of the map system.
i never got the story, didn’t care at all. the game looks good but it’s shit. i just finished gta4, the main missions, i’ll just go back to finish the side missions.
anyway, far cry 2 is shit, i liked the 1st but this one is unrelated to that one.

Luckily it came with the xbox360 console as a xmas present so it didnt come out of my pocket!!!

Just finished this game took me ages hoping for somthing good to happen ! Shit game! great Graphics! semi good realism! not including the actually playing of the game ! AI was crap ! guns n stealth were shit ! cars were shit ! Boats Were CRAP ! didnt finish with options just finishes ! probably wouldnt play again unless wanted to sho either how shit it was or how good looking a shit game can be untill you spend hours playing it watin 4 somthing new! you basically have the game worked out by 20 % then its over same same same ! you never compleate the mission intention of the game ! no planes just crap hangliders that suck! Although this game was pretty shitty, and a definite waste of money, I can’t hold it against Ubisoft because they’ve come up with the Assassins Creed series, and lets face it, it’s amazing. I think to enjoy this game at all, you just have to take out all your anger on the AI’s. Just fill them with as many bullets as possible
. Anyway I know I do go against most of you by saying that I don’t hate Ubisoft, but come on lets face it they just came up a little short with this game, hopefully they’ll recover, and it seems they have (Assassins Creed II <3). I am against the fact that they made it seem a lot better though, that was disappointing.

Totally agree with the review. It seriously makes you wonder what planet the usual game review sites are on when they give it such great reviews.
It’s the biggest load of rubbish i’ve played in years and nothing like FC1, which was excellent fun.
I can see where they’re going with FC2, it’s just they’ve not even bought their ticket to get there yet if you get my drift. Repetitive mindless boring pap are the words i’d use here.

I picked this game up from Steam for $4.99 on a weekend sale, well worth the price because the game may suck but the multiplayer is pretty decent. I’d say if you can find this for $15 or under, buy it.

I bought a geforce gtx260 and this game came with the graphic card.. anyway, after looking the giant map, those stupid animations, driving for 10 mins, and being discovered and killed 100000 times… I exit this game and then i went running to play modern warfare 1 or 2 don’t give me a shit, any game is better than far cry 2… holy crap this game SUCKS!!
