So i'm a WOWtard

Just wondering, there was no mention of endgame raiding type stuff.
was that just overlooked since the reviewer didn't get that far or is that not an option. You just get to endgame and spam the trade channels or is there more (other than pvp).

excellent review by the way, i'm keen.

I think people are forgetting that the whole waiting 9 levels to branch out is the same as wow... albeit a minor difference being that you can respec into a particular branch....

Either way if u play wow or AION you are going to have to wait 9 levels before you pick your specialisation if you will....

Take the blinkers off and veiw games not only as a comparison but also as a new development

Games will always be a grind fest or collect fest for leveling... its just the way it is!

cheers

Good reviews. Thanks. Minor point: the WoW non-linear level progression is something that the WoW developers feel is a weakness, and they're revamping the zone layout in Cataclysm to reflect a system more like Aion.

I have played WoW for 3 years and yesterday decided my WoW life had come to an end. I deleted all my hard worked on characters looking for a new MMO to replace it. Aion looks stunningly beautiful although I have not played the beta yet I will be getting this when it goes live as change is good and I hope this will fill my empty void where WoW once filled.
WoW has become too easy to play so I'm in search of a new challenge and this looks like it could be it.

I'm really looking forward to playing Aion. I burned on wow over a year ago due to the constant nerfing. I'm guessing Aion is a much smaller game. Is that true? In wow there were many starting areas and choices of where to level depending on your whims at the time. This creates the desire to play another toon and keeps people logged on.

I'd like to see a review on the instances and crafting. I'm going to guess any MMO will be gather this, kill those, deliver that...they all are. Actually, it doesn't matter. I've already purchased the game.

As far as taking player base from wow. That won't happen. Aion, with it's pvp, will turn off about 50% of the player base. Many people, like my wife and many of my co-workers, don't like the competitive element of pvp. Wow is like a drug, it's just easy to do.

the "screw Aeon" camp till I read this review. There was no way in hell I was even going to give it a chance. I was ticked off because all the players on Warhammer were about to leave for Aeon like rats from a sinking ship.

Now after reading this, I find myself growing a Tail, Fur, and a strong desire to go swimming with the rest of WHOLs subscribers.

My only concern now is, do I need a working Optical drive to play this or can I just down load the whole thing?

My Dell XPS 630i (Xpensive Piece of SHITE) disk drive is fried and crashing my computer to Blue screen of death, so I had to remove it.
Looks like I will have to wait till the 1st to play it if I need to install from a disk. =(

lol @ sigh. You speak the truth. Only reason wow fanbois review this game bad, or flame this game is because one of 2 reasons:

#1. Their PC cant run Aion so they are upset they are stuck playing lolWOW regardless of what they WANT to play. So they flame endlessly trying to convince themselves that their out-dated game is better.

or

#2. They realize that they WILL lose a gigantic chunk of their subscription base to this game, which makes them angry that so many people have a different and better taste than they do. Basically they feel threatened therefore the must flame to make themselves feel better.
