It appears that the French language forums had it correct, World of Warcraft is headed to v3.2 as of today.  The latest content patch, dubbed Call of the Crusade, from Blizzard Entertainment brings subscribers one step closer to their battle with Arthas.

Call of the Crusade’s focus is once again on the Argent Tournament.  During the interim from Secrets of Ulduar (Patch 3.1) the Argent Crusade has managed to capture beasts from across the land to weed out the weak and reward the strongest in battle.

New content includes:

  • Isle of Conquest Battleground
  • Trial of the Champion
  • Trial of the Crusader
  • Trial of the Grand Crusader
  • 5-player dungeon
  • 10- and 25-player normal and heroic mode dungeon
  • Crusader’s Tribute
  • Expanded Argent Tournament

Interested parties can read the latest PTR patch notes here, and the live notes will be live here shortly.

championsonline-1050

One thoughtful forum-goer has posted the full transcription, minus annoying namechanges, from the recent IRC chat with the developers of Champions Online. It’s a nice chunk of text, so grab a cup of coffee and take a seat before reading it here.

There have been some forumites (how many terms for people who use forums can I use in one post?) crying foul that no truly substantial and new questions were answered during the chat. That said, there were at least two juicy bits relating to knockback damage and trading crafted items. People will always want more, though. Keep in mind as well that often the most vocal don’t necessarily represent the whole.

To start off, I am a college student and hold a job. During the summer I have more free time than usual which gives me freedom to explore new games and spend more time online; reading, blogging and chatting. However, once September hits, school begins and starts a whole new cycle of essay writing, studying and running around from A to B for classes and work schedule. Needless to say, it’s a very hectic lifestyle and time is at a premium. I intend to play 1, count it, 1 game in my spare time and still continue my writing in the MMO BLOG-O-SPHERE (insert echo machine here) for MMOCRUNCH.COM. Unfortunately, neither Aion or Champions Online will be in the running for #1.

mmoc_ddoeu_delay

When Turbine originally announced that Dungeon and Dragons Online would be relaunched as a free-to-play microtransaction title it was dated for this coming week, August 4.  Unfortunately the developer announced only a week before the reboot that the the rebranded DDO: Eberron Unlimited has been delayed to early September.

According to Executive producer Fernando Paiz the company’s addiction to delivering quality content has caused the delay to September 9:

“While we are very pleased with the performance of the game and are excited about the response from the players, we are committed to delivering a high-quality experience. We feel that more time is needed to deliver on this commitment. As a result, we are delaying our launch to ensure that we can support the massive increase in players that we are expecting and deliver them a free to play experience like none other.”

A Turbine representative has since clarified exactly what caused the delay, a lack of adequate computing power (and some bugs):

“Earlier this week we were sure we were on track for the August 4th launch date, had advertising purchased for it, shifts scheduled, etc. Smiles all around, sighs of relief.. and then the flood of players during Monday’s live event on Lamannia showed us that no, we’re not ready. We need to add more capacity, we need to fix some late-breaking bugs, and as much as we hated to do it, we need to delay the launch date.”
