It's pretty interesting to see the differences in opinions from articles written months ago. The statements that CrimeCraft isn't going to survive just makes it all the more interesting. They're pumping their fists over at Vogster, about to release a rebranding of CrimeCraft called Bleedout. That's far from dead. :)

This game won't last through 2010. With a VERY low population, I'm guessing under 5000 (could be way less). The frustrating factors are that it is extremely PVP dependant. There is little to no single player content. Given that the population is so low, it is difficult to get enough players to join "instance" matches to complete mission objective to level your character. The game has so much potential but the developers don't seem to be interested in trying to make player suggestions reality. So in the end they'll just keep losing subscriptions because of ignorance. Another MMO that's become a ticking time bomb. Another perfect example of how THQ drags things through their rears

the game is full of fail, 1 week in beta was enough to see that.
I'm not normally one to badmouth a game, but this was so overpromised and under delivered its sad.
there is no mmo. It's a large (annoyingly large) lobby you walk a round in to queue up and find some basic venders and such. no fighting in the lobby at all. A menu system would have been much better just from frustration.
There is no criminal element to the game, its just you basic fps style matchups, with the usual varieties.
theres nothing here worth a subscription, or even a one time cost.

The game is pretty rad, but it is true that so far the population of the world is slim, so this is without a doubt being done to raise the awareness to the public and try to get more people in the game.

It has issues, but it is still loads of fun, go check it out.

CrimeCraft made an attempt on merging a bunch of different revenue models at once. They released a game wherein you had to buy a box, then pay for a subscription, and -then- made it so that customization options and better weapons were available in a cash shop. You can have sub numbers OR cash shop; most gamers won't go for both.

It's good to see them go F2P. They should have done that in the first place. Perhaps it was their plan; hardcores buy the box, spend oodles of money, and then they bring in the on-the-fencers by removing the initial cost.

All that said, CrimeCraft isn't terrible. It's not amazingly good, but I had some fun with the beta. I was incredulous when I discovered their revenue model.
