Hey Chris,

Not sure if you remember me, but we worked on a runebearer MUD awhile back...I'm trying to register on your new forums @ runebearer.com, but it isn't sending a validation e-mail. This is the only way I can get in touch with you, apparently...could you help me out?

Thanks!

I think these are fine ideas but they seem to be like they might be leading down a dangerous path. Farming.
.
If doing a gambling dungeon gives regular xp + some reward you risk killing the rest of the theme park for some players. I think CoH is the best example of this. When taskforces gave good drops, everyone would grind task forces. When Player made missions gave good drops all people did was grind those. So if the wager dungeon actually gives appropriate rewards people are going to farm them.
.
That said I think many of these ideas are right in the sweet spot for the high level guild/group structure that you see in many games. It gives players tangable reasons to work harder at working together. Which is great for guildies. And it gives PUGs another reason to be jerks to one another.

When dungeons and dragons (the table top game!) came out about thirty years ago, they'd actually have convention rooms filled with people running the same dungeon. Experience points were actually your score! The tables competed with each other to get the best score.
`
Also there's actually playing the monster, like in LOTRO. I did alot of monster play there and it was interesting to be part of the roving bands...also the occasional all warg raid was amazing - looking at clustered huddles of good guy characters, who would see nothing since we were circling them in complete stealth, but they knew we surrounded them...then the pounce! Suddenly a dozen wargs appear, fangs sinking into some single player (no, we didn't always manage to kill one - it wasn't easy)
