warhammer-online2

BioWare Mythic announced today that it is happy to “assume operational responsibilities” for European Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning players beginning July 7th.

Tomorrow, Tuesday June 29th, Mythic will be taking a data stamp of all GOA account information, characters, guilds, etc. for both present and past players. Although the team doesn’t foresee any troubles, there is the possibility that it will have to go back to this data stamp once the transition is complete. This will mean that any progress from June 29th to the updated game date (July 7th) will be lost.

When the process is complete, the European Mythic servers will be online and continually monitored during this transitional period. All game play during this time will be free for existing subscribers and current European subscribers will receive two weeks of free game play beginning July 7th. Not a bad trade, especially since everything should go smoothly. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

For more information on the Warhammer Online EU Transition Update, head over to Warhammer’s FAQ on the subject.

SOE recently published a list of the folks from SOE who will be attending SOE FanFaire from August 5th to the 8th in Las Vegas.  The lists includes what looks like almost all of the community managers across the various games, as well as developers on most of their existing titles, although it doesn’t appear like anyone from The Agency MMO is listed.  Perhaps they’ll be a surprise show?

For more details on SOE FanFaire, stay tuned here or check out the official site.

Tomorrow’s the day.  That’s right, it’s finally arrived.  Tomorrow, everyone who pre-ordered All Points Bulletin will be happily sitting in the game, shooting and driving over each other.  Here’s the fine details:

Early Access for All Points Bulletin begins on Saturday the 26th of June, 2010 at 9am Eastern.  Early access includes 10 hours of gameplay during the three days before the game launches in action districts and unlimited gameplay in the social district.  You will only be able to play 10 hours.  The 50 hours that come with the box won’t begin until the game’s official launch.  So use your time wisely (no sitting around idle in action districts in other words.)

On Tuesday the 29th of June at 12:01am Eastern (midnight)All Points Bulletin officially launches.  The 50 hours can then be used (or the subscription can be upgraded at any time to 30 days access).  Any unused hours from the headstart will be added to the 50, for those who pre-order.

There’s still time to pre-order, so if you haven’t and want to be able to play tomorrow, click here and get the game!

I can’t wait.  Literally.  I’m dying here.

Sometimes the setting of a new game makes the difference between a game that you will wait to play, if at all, and so interesting you start to anticipate playing it. When first looking at Rock Hippo Production’s first MMOTPS (Third Person Shooter) MicroVolts, my first reaction was, “Oh, another shooter”, yet as I watched the trailer, browsed the website and looked at some of the in-game screenshots, it began to pique my interest.

kok3

gamigo’s King of Kings 3 (KoK3) is starting closed beta testing this Monday, June 28th. The KoK3 beta will be available to North American and European players only.

KoK3s big draw is that it claims to “redefine” guilds in MMORPGs. A tall order. First players form guilds, then combine guilds into larger legions, followed by completing epic quests to create their own kingdom. Once this has been established, quests are offered up for one player to become the King of Kings for his new kingdom by defeating a ruthless enemy. Perks and unlockables are achieved along the way for all players the further they get, so it’s not just a bonus for the king.

To register for this new, inspiring take on the guild system, head on over to the King of Kings 3 website and register for the open beta.

Warhammer Online‘s team announced today that GOA will stop publishing, operations and subscription services for Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning in Europe and move the operation of the game to Mythic Entertainment.

GOA stated to their fans, “We have enjoyed a lot of great times with you. Over the past couple of years we have fostered a fantastically vibrant and active community; we saw the world’s first Tchar’Zanek and Karl Franz kills pre 1.3.5 and hosted undeniably some of the most professional guilds to ever play WAR.”

During the next few weeks, GOA will be working closely with Mythic Entertainment so that everything transitions as smoothly as possible. GOA assures its players that all characters, loot, guilds and account info will be migrated to Mythic Servers  and will be available to all past and present players.

An upcoming FAQ will be popping up in the next few days. Check back at MMOCrunch.com for the latest details on Warhammer Online’s Server Transition.

aion-elysian-council

Who are Elysian Council you might ask? Well, there name deserves some recognition because they became the first guild to organize over 300 people and successfully capture the Divine Fortress on the Triniel Server – something no North American server has ever done.

To honor this event, Aion Online‘s team decided to interview some key members of the team and asked them how they managed to pull off such a rare feat. The various heads of the guilds were introduced and talked about their characters in the game, their legions, what the capture means to them and more.

Check out the full interview with the Elysian Council over at Aion’s official website, here.

(Fun Fact: The Elysian Fields is the place great warriors go when they die in Greek mythology.)

Turbine’s Dungeons and Dragons Online is making headlines with its upcoming add-on. Update 5 goes live June 28th. MMOCrunch.com was lucky enough to be let in on some exciting screens that gave us a taste of this new update.

DDO Update 5 centers around the new Carnival of Souls Adventure Pack which adds more missions, a new trophy system and a whole mess of new skills for all classes. Perhaps most importantly though, update 5 adds guild housing including the ability to buy airships for your guild and fully customize them. Airships – works for me! In this month’s Age of Conan Letter from the Game Director, Craig Morrison talks about the break they are taking from content production to integrate a new technology platform.  The developers periodically take time to do integrations with their Dreamworld techology and that is something they are doing this summer.  He wanted to let the players know why Funcom was taking this time to do something that we won’t necessarily see tangible results in, and he does a very good job of doing so.  Essentially, in taking the time the time to do the integrations, it actually makes the team more efficient with the addition of new tools, and keeps the game on the cutting edge by allowing them to continue to update it with new graphical effects and features.  It also allows them to keep on top of performance.  While most players won’t see these upgrades as something as substantial as content, in the long-run, the game and the players will be better off for it.

Also of note is that update 2.0.5 will be going live shortly.  This update adds quite a bit of new content, including 50 quests, changes to the Shrines of Bori PvP feature and an adjustment of the token drops for faction armor (which will make the tokens about 25% quicker for players to obtain.)

I’m pleased to hear Funcom talk about looking towards the future with the games by staying on top of technology.  It bodes well for the future of its franchises, including Age of Conan.
