En Masse Entertainment released three beautiful new images of Tera Online, which you can see above. These screenshots show off Serpentis Isle, a coastline north of Mistmoar Island (which is what the E3 demo showcased.) With beaches and jungles full of dangerous creatures, it’s both beautiful and deadly.

Tera Online is an action MMORPG in development. It is scheduled to release in 2011. No word yet on when beta is planned, but as soon as those details are released, we’ll have them here on MMOCrunch.com.

aionwallpaper8_658x494

Aion Online is consolidating its servers with its upcoming merge happening Wednesday, July 7. Don’t worry though guys, even if your server is effected by the move, all your characters, items, equipment and Kinah will be transferred along with it. Even storage items and broker items will flow over to the new server. Added to this, your legion will stay together.

This is a big move for Aion Online, one the team most likely is dreading considering all the mishaps and slip-ups that go with this sort of thing. The Aion team did release a statement that if anybody should fall through the cracks and not be placed where he or she was intended, Aion Online will be offering free character transfers from the day after the merge up until August 18th.

pirates-of-the-burning-sea

Flying Lab Software’s Pirates of the Burning Sea released a bit of news concerning the new lighting system it will be implementing in the upcoming Power and Prestige expansion.

Flying Lab thought that the old system lacked certain graphical details that have become standard in most high-end MMOs and sought to change this.

The new lighting system seems to be top notch as author JoeMan states “the result is avatar lighting that reacts to what’s around in the environment. If an avatar is standing with their back to a bright yellow wall, you’ll actually see some of that light bouncing off the wall onto the character. If an avatar moves into a shaded area, you’ll see the sunlight fade out.”

The lighting in the Power and Prestige expansion pack certainly looks like a keen addition to the graphics in Pirates and shows Flying Lab’s commitment to detail and bringing a polished product to its audience. You can see the new system in action with the launch of the update in early August.

Those of you familiar with Korean MMO Mabinogi will know that the various geographical regions of the game are distinct in terms of game version as well, so this update applies only to the new European version of Mabinogi. Developer NEXON has announced that Mabinogi Europe now includes horses, stating, “This revolutionary feature will allow players the chance to ride around their Mabinogi world on horseback, making it quicker and easier to navigate the land.” While I’m not sure it quite rates the term “revolutionary”, this is an important update for anyone playing the EU build of the game. The announcement trailer, courtesy of MMOCrunch’s YouTube channel, can be found above.

Also unveiled with this update is the special unicorn mount, which will be available for a limited time from the Mabinogi cash shop – from today (June 23) to the end of the month (June 30). For more information, or to download and try the game for yourself, visit the official site.

Nexon America released a series of screenshots and a brief description of the Gnoll Chieftain, one of the boss mobs in their upcoming action MMORPG Vindictus. Claiming it will be a formidable challenge, the description continues:

The Gnoll Chieftain, known for his distinctive coat of red fur, is a powerful spiritual leader amongst the Gnolls. The Gnoll Chieftain and his followers have become extremely hostile and aggressive to the humans, breaking the once uneasy peace, and have begun to attack soldiers training in the Perilous Ruins. His clan once kept an uneasy peace with the humans, but recently that all changed.

betabetabeta

Beta Testing is not just a way to play a game for free. It gives players a chance to get a top down look at the way that MMORPGs are made and have a hand in their development. I’ve participated in many beta tests for all sorts of different games. Often, it’s very fun and rewarding; other times it may feel as if I am playing a broken game that needs another year or two in the cooker. I’ve isolated three fun and interesting games that are entering both closed and open beta phases.
