These newest screenshots from Tera Online feature pictures taken from outside of Azarel’s Labyrinth in Ascension Valley, on the continent of Arun.  Near the middle of Ostgarath, it is located south of the ancient city of Castanica.

An aman stands vigilant, preparing to enter the maze and destroy the monstrous creatures that dwell inside.

In the second screenshot, a horklaton stands off in the distance near an ancient statue.

For those of us who enjoy our MMOs quirky and with a dash of cuteness, a new contender has entered the arena. Hero: 108 Online sets the stage for a family-friendly adventure based on the hit Cartoon Network show of the same name. The game is already full of characters and creatures from the show, giving the developers the chance to focus on gameplay and social mechanics. Developed by RedGate Games, a subsidiary of Gamania Digital Entertainment, Hero: 108 Online allows players to hone their skills based on the four elements: wind, water, fire, and earth. Allegedly “unlimited” personalization options are available to your character, from equipment to costumes.

red-fens-4

Today, Dungeons & Dragons Online: Unlimited pushed it’s sixth content update to live servers. Turbine has been keeping the ball rolling with consistent attention to the game and it’s players in an effort to keep the game fresh and attractive.

The update will introduce a new Adventure Pack, entitled “Red Fens”, as well as substantial additions to the Dungeons & Dragons Online item shop. The Red Fens area is a murky swamp, filled with angry Muckmen and Vine Stalkers, to name a few. From the looks of the screenshots we received today, players can expect some exciting encounters during their playthrough of the new content. As for the DDO Store, be on the lookout for Red Fens adventure pack guest passes, ninja masks, shock weapons, and more creative paraphernalia.

Breakin' the Law

Yesterday, I made a few statements regarding Realtime Worlds’ entrance into administration. Today, it seems the developer of All Points Bulletin has attracted interested parties from “both sides of the Atlantic”. Having just released earlier this year, APB is a refreshing take on the genre, and one that is still in infancy. This is a blessing as much as it is a curse, since Realtime Worlds’ growing pains have resulted in about 185 jobs lost altogether. This drops the game’s Dundee-based offices from about 210 employees to 53, and the parent company’s Colorado offices are almost emptied at this point.

After two years of developing games such as Champions Online and Star Trek Online; the MMO giant Bill Roper has decided that he is going to depart Cryptic.  Nobody’s really quite sure why, other then Bill has grown tired and wants to branch out to find new opportunities.  Well that’s all fine an dandy I suppose, and if Bill feels as though he’s needed else where, then we should all support him in his decision.  What does this mean for Champions and Star Trek you ask?  Nothing at all.  Both of your beloved MMOs will continue as normal and life will go on as it should.  Who knows, maybe Bill left because he’s hard at work with Hanbitsoft on the Hellgate London sequel *hahaha*.

Anyways, here is a link to Bill’s final dying breaths from Cryptic Studios.  Oh, and for those of you that are interested in making friends with this man; he has stated that he will continue to play every Cryptic game ever!  So you guys might be able to spot him beating up/ beaming up online.  Good luck Bill, we salute you!

Loong: The Power of the Dragon is a fantastic looking MMO that was released in China this year.  It has achieved great success with over 40 million players and is now making its way to North America.

Loong features stunning visuals and a massive world where stylized armor and weapons, as well as fantastic magic spells and landscapes combine to immerse the player in mythology-rich universe.   Large battles with combat between over 500 players at a time are vibrantly colored and impressive.  They definitely set this game up to be described as being in a class of its own.

The game cost approximately ten million dollars (US) to develop and the result is a world set in ancient China that has captivated players since January of 2010.  Exciting journeys take adventurers into dangerous ruined castles, through giant seething deserts and along winding paths through steaming jungles.

These visual settings are sure to make the more than a thousand quests, hundreds of vanity pets, and ability to swim provide excitement in the exploration and combat of the game.

Another Day on the Street

All Points Bulletin’s incoming Patch 1.4.1 is loaded with all sorts of fixes and updates, a strong sign that the game is maintaining a healthy population of active and vocal players. We can expect a host of features with this installment, including combat updates, matchmaking tweaks, advanced graphical options, VOIP improvements, and brand new content altogether.

This is all well and good, though this update will only be rolling out to European Test Servers, as the North American servers just aren’t ready for players to test out the latest patch. As such, Realtime Worlds has seen fit to release the patch to live service earlier than planned. Full patch notes here.

Are you one of those people who have been pining for more goodies from Reakktor’s upcoming space MMO Black Prophecy?  Well wait no more, as the developers released a new Black Prophecy trailer in honor of gamescom.  Is this the kind of eye candy you want?  Will you be playing Black Prophecy?  What are your expectations for it?

I know quite a few people interested in this game, but I think Jumpgate Evolution might be even better, IF it ever bothers releasing.
