On top of this, gPotato has announced that this expansion will mark the official release of Allods in Europe. The fouth volume is currently hooked up to test servers, and player response is widely positive.

Perfect World’s latest offering, Forsaken World, has been a stupendous undertaking with an enormous effort from both California and Amsterdam. Set in the mythical world of Eyrda, Forsaken World is heavily based on ancient mythology. The game features five races: Humans, Kindred, Elves, Stonemen, and Dwarves. Each boasts their own strengths and weaknesses, along with specific item sets — both combat and fashion-oriented. The game is set to be free-to-play with a largely vanity-based item shop, as is the case with most other Perfect World titles.

With the finale of their longest beta to date underway, Perfect World Entertainment is very anxious to get the title out early. This was made possible by the dedicated investment with which beta testers assisted developers every step of the way. To celebrate the early release of the game, Perfect World has released its fifth developer diary video, which can be seen above. Forsaken World goes live on March 9th, but you can get in early on the open beta by visiting the official site.

Unleash Your Inner Muse!Do you love MMOs? Do you love them enough to wax poetic (or rant) about them, at length, to your ever-patient family and friends? Have you ever wished for a platform of your own from whence you might proudly pontificate your passion with plentiful perspicacity? (OK, that last one was a little too much, even for me.) But if you’ve been longing for a chance to make your voice heard in the gaming community, this is that chance.

We here at MMOCrunch.com are looking for a few good writers. While there are quite a few specific categories that one might choose to write within, the basic breakdown of what we want is this: Columnists and Game Reporters.

Fallen Earth

Yesterday, the fine folks over at Icarus Studios have shared the current state of Fallen Earth. Life looks good in the wasteland — as good as it gets, anyways; the devs have been efficient with their time, and have been able to move up some previously long-term projects to release in Q2. As a prelude to Alpha County (the newest sector in development), a mini-zone known as Terminal Woods will go live later this month, complete with additional achievements, a PvP zone , Scavenger bosses, and roaming World bosses for players to confront.

Jump past the cut to dig in on Alpha County content and other updates!

Bruce Wayne is a man of many secrets, and most of them are stored in his supercomputer in the underground Batcave. Unfortunately, the mad computer system Brother Eye is seeking to use the same supercomputer as a nexus point for sending signals around the world, none of which include updating its Facebook page or sending spam e-mail.

No, Brother Eye has a global agenda and DC Universe Online players will have to unplug the dastardly scheme afoot. Sony Online Entertainment has released the new video above, which shows off the hectic encounters to be had in Batcave: Inner Sanctum, the latest group combat raid to be added in the brand new superhero MMO.

The minute-and-a-half trailer reveals the three boss encounters in Batcave: Inner Sanctum. First is ARC, which unleashes knockback whirlwinds and summons powerful adds. Second is Zetta-Drone who likes to spin around and wreak area-wide havoc. And finally Brother Eye who throws a punishing array of laser and eye beam attacks, making the encounter more of a survival fight than the usual tank-and-spank.

Feel free to rewatch the new trailer for DCUO Batcave: Inner Sanctum raid to get a feel of the action, and maybe even pick up a pro tip or two before your first attempt.

Game Monster

Crafting your avatar is that wonderful and exciting entry into just about any online game.  It’s that near magical art of creating your in-game persona, infusing your character with a bit of whatever parts of you that you want to send forth into the game world to find adventure and victory, with pink pigtails or a lime-green mohawk or a great big scar down your cheek.

Believe it or not, I used to HATE character creation.  It always irked me because I’m a furry orange monster and there just aren’t any games where I could make an avatar that looks even remotely like I do.  The closest I could usually come was orange hair, and even then is was never the right shade of that fiery orange that I’m so proud of.  Game after game, I just crafted some generic looking toon or, even worse, hit ‘random’ a few times in character select and took what was handed to me, since no combination of noses, hairstyles, and body shape could ever come close to making a character that looked like me.

Then one day I decided that this was very silly, and I’ve loved character creation ever since.

Rift Opened!

The time is nigh, and players around the world are flocking to Rift‘s 58 US servers and 41 European servers. Dynamic content is the name of the game, and the intense immersion that Trion brings to a traditional MMO setting is really hitting its mark with players. From the very moment you step into the world to the white-knuckle moments of your first Rift or Invasion, you know that Trion puts the “massive” in MMO; literally hundreds of players may participate in the zone-wide events through open grouping and faction pride. Go Defiants!

With this new Developer Diary from Trion, Rift is picked apart and explored by those who gave birth to it. After checking this one out, I can’t wait to discover Ancient Wardstones and Rift Raids. I would ask you to join me on Briarcliff, but the server is so impacted that I’ve had to wait 3-4 hours in queue! Ah, the things I do for World PvP… This is Rift!

Greenscale

In preparation for their big day on Tuesday, Trion Worlds has unveiled an exciting new raid in the form of Greenscale’s Blight. With Rift’s newest raid, parties of Ascended are tasked with navigating the twisting maze of the dragon’s lair, taking care to avoid the pestilent plant life that has long overgrown its halls. A word for the wise: hold your breath!

The great green wyrm has astounding strength, and exhales poison so virulent, all the victim’s organs race to break down. The lethal plants of the Life Plane sprout where he wills, each of which sporting a unique and agonizing way to kill. Though in the Age of Dragons he preferred to stomp cities to the ground personally, Greenscale has no compunction against bombarding enemies from the air.

This update is the last of Trion’s pre-launch reveals, and with the final release of Rift, we’ll be visiting our neighborhood Greenscale sooner rather than later. I’ll just bring a change of pants. Or two.
