Allods Online

Yeah, I know — Allods has been around for long enough that most of us just assumed it had launched during that time. I mean, how long does a beta really need to last? The guys at Gala-Net Europe have even released three volumes of new content and the darn thing still hasn’t launched! What gives? Allods Online is a labor of love, and it’s become clear to see by the game’s impressive evolution during beta. Now, this free-to-play title has just as much to offer as a triple-A P2P MMO, rendered in vivid and stunning (yet stylized) graphics.

Allods Online is set to launch on May 11th, 2011, and loyal testers are being rewarded for their hard work. Players who have reached level 30 during the course of the beta will receive a “visually stunning Halo buff”. Moreover, players (level 35 or above) who log in any time between April and May 11th will receive am extra shoulder reward.

Bioware was nice enough to put together a nice video compilation of the activities down at their PAX East SWTOR booth last month. Immediately after the doors opened, fans raced to line up at the demo area and secure a chance to try the highly anticipated MMO with their own hands. The demo centered around the Taral V Flashpoint, which was revealed along with a developer walkthrough a few weeks ago.

Join the denizens of fans as they share their experiences at the Star Wars: The Old Republic booth. For those of us who couldn’t be there, this is as good as it gets. And the getting is good!

Prius Online is advertised as one of the first truly “emotional” MMO experiences; players control not one, not two, but three characters, who interact with each other as they progress through a rich story. The character is accompanied by an “Anima” and a “Giga”; the Anima appears to play the center of the emotional rollercoaster, struggling to regain her lost memories as you are faced with trials and tribulations. The Anima controls her Giga, which is one of many warrior behemoths that were created to protect the world of Prius.

Mortal Online

Having fixed the last of the major bugs *fingers crossed*, Star Vault is rolling out new content for its first-person sandbox MMO, Mortal Online. The game servers are now able to last a whopping 50 hours before requiring maintenance, and players are able to engage in large-scale warfare with little to no lag issues. The Dawn expansion brings a slew of exciting features to the skill-based title, and is entirely free for current subscribers.

In an effort to gain visibility for their game, Star Vault has added Facebook connectivity to Mortal Online, allowing players to post status updates from the game and receive news & event notifications. On the subject of events, the team has also hired a brand new Community Manager, Black Opal.

Metal Assault

Disclaimer: This is no April Fool’s joke!

Metal Assault, the 2d side-scroller MMO by Aeria Games has officially launched their Closed Beta testing phase, inviting certain-special-someones to wreak some havoc with their friends. MMOCrunch has received 250 beta keys from our friends at Aeria, and we want to share them with you right now! Visit our beta giveaway page to secure your own key, and then jump past the cut for instructions.

What is Metal Assault, exactly? Players can expect a futuristic side-scrolling shooter that is fast-paced and flashy (think Metal Slug). Anime characters populate this world, and players will choose from four different characters (Carl, Burton, Marie, and Ai) who each bring their own unique skills to the table. Through PvP or Co-Op scenarios, players can gather points and items by slaying enemies and generally causing chaos. It’s a nice, casual title that provides great replayability with little to no learning curve.
