The pirate MMORPG Bounty Bay Online is getting a new expansion this summer, sometime in July which will introduce new ships, lands and adventures.  While the last expansion Atlantis focused more on land battles,while this new expansion will bring changes to the high seas.  Players can choose from 3 new ships and can engage the Spanish Armada in a new sea battle. Led by Spanish Admiral Medina Sidiona, in the sea battle of Cravelines, players must combat a mighty naval convoy consisting of gunboats, cruisers, and destroyers, as well as gigantic battleships. As a final challenge, they must then confront the practically insurmountable flagship of Admiral Medina Sidiona.

To give players a chance at victory three new types of ammunition will be added that can temporarily incapacitate opponents, inflict particularly severe damage, and negatively affect the accuracy of enemy cannons.  In addition the new Ship Improvement System has been added which allows players to vastly improve their ship’s stats through the use of powerful special items.

For those of you who have not been keeping up with Hellgate, it is a free to play action RPG and is currently being developed by T3 Entertainment.  If you remember Hellgate: London was original released in 2007, but closed its doors by 2008.

It seems that MMORTS games are on the rise as of late and recently I had to chance to play World of Battles in beta.  Actually World of Battles was in open beta last year , May 25, 2010, when it was run by Bigpoint, but since has undergone some changes, moved to Frogwars, and has been rebranded as World of Battles: Morningstar.  Now today World of Battles: Morningstar has re-launched back in open beta.  Yes, I know it’s confusing, so lets get to the World of Battles preview.

World of Battles is not really a MMORTS, because like many online games, the amount of players in a match is restricted (to seven) and there is no persistent world.  However unlike say Starcraft 2, your hero unit and army do level over time as well as can be upgraded with better armor, weapons and abilities.

To begin, World of Battles offers players the choice of one of eight races, Knights, Dark Elves, Orcs, Undead, Dwarf, Amazonian, Barbarian, and Elves.  Each race has it’s strength and weaknesses like any other RTS today.

A new trailer was released today highlighting the trooper class in the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG.  The trooper class is split into two hierarchy classes, Commando and Vanguard, which provide more advanced skills as the player progresses.  Also displayed are various armor sets and some abilities for each advanced class.  Enjoy.

Faxion has official gone live.  In Faxion Online players must choose whether to join the side of heaven or hell as they battle for control in the world of Limbo.  Faxion Online is a free to play MMORPG and centers around PvP combat.  To help celebrate the launch, UTV True Games is give away an iPad2 to one lucky fan, all you need to do is “Like” their Facebook page and a random winner will be selected on June 9th.

Trion Worlds, developers of the MMORPG RIFT,  today launched their new in-game social media feature RIFTconnect, which will connect in-game players to social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Youtube. Players, while still in-game, will be able to send messages, take videos or screenshots and upload them to their social media platform of choice or all at the same time if they choose.

RIFTconnect, making it possible to bug your family and friends by showing them how you play RIFT all day.  Jokes aside, I think this is a pretty cool feature and I can see it being extremely useful for guilds that want to update their fellow guildies while they aren’t in-game.  Checkout more information about RIFTconnect on the official RIFT website.
