The first major expansion for the Terra Militaris, the browser MMORTS game, has been announced and will be released within the next few weeks.  The expansion, called Conquest, will include an epic new instance, two new PvP modes and a new auction house for players to trade gear.

Trials of the Champion, the new raid instance,  contains 50 levels of play and can be challenged once every 24 hours. Each level of the instance will give players fame, EXP and items on completion and with 50 levels to be defeated, Trials of the Champion is an excellent raid for players looking to vastly increase their fame when aiming for the Domination or Imperial Eras in Terra Militaris’ end-game.

Along with the new instance, two new PvP modes have been added, Siege War and Famous City War. Siege Wars allow players to raid each other’s camps [for world advantage and pillaged loot], and Famous City Wars involve players taking the fight directly into the territories and cities of their enemies’ civilizations.

In addition a new auction house will open for players to trade gear, skills and powerful unique items. Players will also be able to obtain special forging items in order to boost the stats of weapons, armour and other items. A new lottery system called the ‘Orbs of Fortune’ will also launch with the expansion, which allows players to exchange coins for items and allows one free use per day, with the chance of winning rare heroes for the player’s Terra Militaris army.

The Conquest expansion also includes a huge range of fixed and balances and other significant changes. The game’s UI will be significantly overhauled to increase ease-of-use and visibility. Hotkeys will also be implemented for issuing commands and navigating menus quickly.

No exact date for the expansion has been set yet, however we expect it sometime in July.  For now you can take a sneak peak at some of the changes coming by viewing the screenshots below.

The finals for Eve’s Alliance Tournament IX ended today, but not how anyone would have expected. Accusations of the finals being rigged or setup started even before the final match ended.  You see what many Eve Online players and viewers of the tournament didn’t know was that the two finalists were really one team.

The two finalist, Hydra Reloaded and Outbreak, were originally part of the same Eve Alliance, Hydra Reloaded, two months before the start of Alliance Tournament IX and one player was in control of both teams.

That Eve Online player goes by the name of Garmon and was the team captain for both tournament teams.  In a tactical move by Garmon and the alliance, a new alliance called Outbreak was created so Hydra Reloaded could have two entries in the tournament and increase their chance of making the finals.  So when the semi-finals ended and both Hydra Reloaded and Outbreak made the finals, the fix was in.

Hydra Reloaded entered the finals with a joke of a ship setup and were quickly decimated by team Outbreak.  However as both teams were sharing the same chat channel and communicating with each other, they decided that Hydra Reloaded would win the finals, so team Outbreak let-up their attack and allowed the remains players from Hydra Reloaded to finish them off.

It seems that many Eve Online players and viewers were outraged by this rigged final match and have taken to the Eve Online forums to express their disgust.  However not everyone shares this view, many players applaud what Hydra Reloaded and Garmon had done simply stating that this is what Eve Online is all about.  Bending rules and taking advantage of them to win at all costs.  The real victory wasn’t won in the finals, but was the accomplishment of getting two teams into the finals.

Since the end of the tournament, Hydra Reloaded has made a public apology for how the finals ended.  No official response from CCP or Alliance Tournament has been given and whether or not new rules will be put in place for next year so something like this doesn’t happen again.

Today via a post on the Darkfall blog, Aventurine posted about the possibility of Darkfall Online being developed for the Asian markets.

There is great interest in Darkfall for Asia. To suit the Asian markets, Darkfall would need to be localized and there would need to be some co-development along with our Asian partners. This will be good for the game overall since we’d be tapping into some vast development resources. Unfortunately I can’t be more specific but there will be announcements when we can.

From the quote it definitely seems Aventurine would love to expand Darkfall into the huge Asian market, so the only real question is when this will happen.

Also in the post was an update on when new dungeons will be added to Darkfall as their has been none over the last year.

The new Central Dungeons  are on the horizon and will consist of 4 different main areas. Depending on which way a player chooses to go through they will end up in one of  four areas and face one of the four main bosses. In addition to the unique boss fight, each area has their own theme, lore, quests, design and concepts. The way to the main areas will also offer several challenges as players have to beat and evade several different types of traps and obstacles.

One of the rooms will have the Demon Queen as main boss where players will fight on a big spiderweb like structure which they will have to find their way onto.

Check out some of the screenshots for the Cairn Dungeon below.

Today Zemi Int. announced a new type of PvP war scenario called Aerial War for its popular MMORPG 4Story.  Aerial War will be released with the next content update on June 22nd.

The new war scenario type is similar to some of the other war maps, meaning players will have to occupy certain positions and defend them until the end of the round.  In Aerial War there will be 3 such positions, which are actually portals.  Players gain vantage points and the team with the most at the end of the war wins.

However, with the Aerial War scenario, players can kill the enemy faction leader NPC and instantly end the war with a win.

Another major change is that there is no level restriction to join the fight and a player does not actually have to join the battle to get the reward. So as long as you are in the same nation that won the battle, you will still get the Aerial War victory reward even though you did not participate in the fight. Although it’s the minor reward and the participants will be getting additional main rewards, there is something in it for everybody.

I’m not a fan of rewarding players for doing nothing, so I’m not sure about that last change.  Seems to me like it will get abused and you’ll have teams where half the players are AFK and just looking to get some free rewards.
