The official trailer for Lineage Eternal has been released at G-Star 2011 and it looks f*ing amazing.

The video, while in Korean, shows a massive castle siege taking place as the player makes his way through it, a few dungeons and ends with a boss fight. The massive amount of characters on the screen at once is impressive, the effects and graphics are outstanding and we get to see just how click’n hold combat works.

I have to say if this was being released along-side of Diablo 3, I wouldn’t even think about getting D3. This is easily on my top 3 Most Wanted list for 2012.

It looks like Everquest 2 Extended, the free version of Everquest II, is coming to an end and going free-to-play full force this December.

Players will gain full access to EQ2, all expansions and 3 adventure packs, however will be limited to only 4 playable races which can be puchased. It seems that free players will be gimped as there are also restrictions to equipment grades and spell tiers. You can read the full FAQ here and the Producers Letter here.

Also announced today is that the EQII: Age of Discovery expansion will launch in early December with pre-orders available now. And EQII is celebrating its 7th anniversary this week, so congrats to them on that.

Below we have the full chart of the three membership levels and what is included in each.’

Welcome to MMOCrunch’s Gunshine review, where we review the newest MMO’ish game to hit Facebook. Like so many other MMO games these days, Gunshine isn’t a true MMOPRG since the vast majority of the game world is instanced. Although there are towns throughout the game that are not and people can meet up, trade or fight.

Gunshine begins with your character arriving on corporate built city island called Dawnbreak, which was sold the the public as the place where dreams would come true. Unfortunately almost immediately upon arrival you’re arrested and realize that it’s more of a nightmare than a dream. So with the help of some new friends, you end up busting out of jail and learning that the entire island is overrun by organized crime, violence and some monsters for good measure.

There are three classes to choose from, melee, ranged and medic, with the medics also being ranged as they need a primary attack. Skills are of course based on the class you select, but weapons and gear is not, meaning you’ll be able to use any weapons and gear in the game.

At Bioware’s Austin Studio, the first day of the second Fan Site Summit was held where new details to how Star Wars: The Old Republic open world PvP system would work. Up until know, BioWare only briefly talked about the Ilum zone at PAX Prime with a short video and some screenshots, however today we learned the following courtesy of AskaJedi.

  • Ilum is a level 50 end-game zone
  • About half of the planet’s size is used for the world PvP objective, and it’s a large planet
  • There are 5 control points in the zone: a Republic and Empire base at the north and south, as well as 3 central resources
  • All 5 points must be under control simultaneously for victory
  • Certain control points engage/deploy walkers that can and need to be take down by special shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, and perhaps other means. It takes a good 10 seconds to fire one of these rockets
  • Victory conditions award a buff that can stack, which awards extra Valor points (earned during other forms of PvP such as Warzones)
  • This buff is faction-wide
  • The status is persistent, no timers for the game to artificially start or “reset” – it’s always on
  • There are rare crafting resources available throughout the zone
  • Zone can hold hundreds of players
  • Design accounts for population differences
  • Operation (raid) group size is 24 players. (Note: PvE Operation instanced content is designed for 8 or 16, but the group itself can have 24 people in it.)

You can view the PAX Prime Ium world video below.

The decline of World of Warcraft continues as yesterday, during Activision Blizzard’s investor call, it was announced that WoW has a total of 10.3 million players, down from 11.1 from August, which is a 800k total net lose. This means that for the year, WoW is down 1.7 million subscribers total when it lost 600k in the first quarter and 300k in the second. However Blizzard COE stated that the majority of the subscribers lost were from the eastern markets.

Don’t feel back from Blizzard yet, even though another 800k players left the game, Activision Blizzard reported its profits had tripled from the same time last year to the tune of $627 million. They also expect an increase in profits for the fourth quarter and into 2012 with the launch of Modern Warfare 3 and Diablo 3.

Looks like the Q4 will be another milestone for WoW as I’m sure subscription numbers will most likely dip below 10 million for the first time in years. Truly a sign that WoW MMORPG dominance is coming to an end.

RiotGame today announced that with start of Season 2, League of Legends will have ranked teams for 3vs3 and 5vs5. Players will be able to create permanent teams with other players to compete in ranked matches. Teams will also have their own Elo rating, separate from individual ratings.

Not that I’m going to use the new team ranking system, as I don’t have the time to compete competitively in any game, but it seems like a feature that is long over due. This is after all a game that up until recently only had two maps and one game mode, so it would only be logical to allow players to create teams and for them to have their own ranking system.

Ignited Games today announced DarkEden, their new free to play vampire MMORPG which is now open for closed beta signups.

Not much is know about the new title other then that it will be a horror action game and there will be three factions, humans, vampires and half-breeds. DarkEden promised to have large-scale warfare between the three factions and guild sieges system.

Two systems will be in place, a leveling system and a skill system, with Vampires utilizing the leveling system, while the humans will only use the skill system. I guess that means the Hybrid faction will use both. However there will also be a Rank system where players can learn new Rank skills, regardless of faction.

The game will take place in three different time periods and the day and night cycles will not only affect class abilities, but will also alter the environments.

To signup for the closed beta, head over to the official DarkEden website.

During a GStar 2011 press conference today, NCsoft announced a third title in the Lineage series called Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance. This is not Lineage III, but a Diablo like game with a top down point of view which uses a click and hold combat system, mainly used for spells, instead of the hack and slash style that Diablo uses.

It’s unclear if this is an MMO title or a multiplayer online RPG, however Lineage Eternal will feature both PvE and PvP combat with large scale warfare.

Lineage Eternal will feature destructible environments and interactive objects. For example a fire spell will ignite nearby plant life, players will be able to climb on top of fallen enemies to help climb over walls or throw a hook onto a pillar in order to swing across a destroyed bridge.

Currently there are three announced classes, Warrior, Mage and Elemental Archer and the game is set for closed beta testing in late 2012.

Below we have some screenshots courtesy of Thisisgame.com.

A new post was published today on the Firefall developers blog giving everyone an update as to what the status of beta and development is currently at. The gist of it is that the development process is not where Red 5 Studios had hoped it would be, so they are hiring additional programmers to get things moving at a quicker pace.

The infrastructure issues and technical limitations of the last few tests have made us wary of adding additional users until we have a better handle on the overall experience

We have various issues with performance and optimization that are always on-going and we pleased to announce that we’ve hired additional programmers to help with this and increasing the overall visual fidelity of the game.

Due to the setbacks, additional beta invites will be pushed back to at least a few more weeks and even then will be kept to smaller numbers.

we are still keeping a tight control on the number of invites. As mentioned in the past, we plan to roll out invites all the way through next year. There is no specific number we need to hit by any specific date, thus we are going to be cautious for a while longer.

Last Friday Tribes: Ascend launched into closed beta testing and dropped their NDA, so today we have a video preview of the game. For those of you who don’t know what Tribes: Ascend is, it’s basically an online FPS with some leveling features similar to how Modern Warfare works.

So why are we previewing a non-MMO title? Well because we got into the closed beta and I figured some of you guys would be playing it anyway, so why not. Tribes: Ascent will be a free-to-play title powered by an in-game item store and will be released sometime in early 2012.

Let me preface the video by saying I never played the original Tribes and I tend to stick to more realistic FPSs like Counter Strike, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, so I was a little out of my element with this. The movement is so fast and chaotic I really didn’t play well, so be kind to a Tribes noob with your comments ;)

Check out the Tribes: Ascend video preview below.
