MMOCrunch is glad to announce we are giving away closed beta keys to M.A.T.: Mission Against Terror (MAT), Kingsoft’s upcoming online FPS!

MAT is a shooter pitting two teams against each other with a wide array of real-world weapons. It also features many different game modes to satisfy all your fragging needs. Choose from:

  • Deathmatch – The classic frag your enemies to win mode.
  • Bombing Mode – Think Counter-strike, a bombing team and a counter-bombing team.
  • Phantom Mode – Think bombing mode except the bombing team is made of ghosts. Yep, ghosts!
  • Mummy Mode – Much like Call of Duty’s Zombie mode, you must survive an onslaught of risen Egyptian mummies!
  • Terminator Mode – Your team is pitted against an army of robots.
  • Tank Mode – You are placed in an armored tank, need I say more?

M.A.T.: Mission Against Terror also boasts customizable avatars including headgear, eyewear and costumes so you can frag in style. So be one of the first to try out this upcoming FPS and melt some faces like never before!

UPDATE:  All 500 keys went are gone.  They sure went fast!  Stay tuned for more info on this game and others.

MMOCrunch is glad to announce we are giving away closed beta keys for MicoVolts, Rock Hippo Productions’ much anticipated upcoming free-to-play MMOTPS (Third-person shooter).

Be the first to enter the Micro World battlefield as you take control of your “toy soldier”, and battle for battery power and wage war against other toys. Think Toy Story, but instead of making nice with Buzz Lightyear, players will want to battle him for supremacy of Andy’s room. Players can choose between four distinct toy character types and use a wide range of fun and destructive weapons to dispatch their toy enemies.

  • Naomi – A charming high school girl toy figure whose friendly shell proves looks can be deceiving.
  • Knox – An intimidating and bulky hip hop action figure with a heart of gold.
  • Pandora – An evil trickster doll who seduces her prey before destroying them.
  • C.H.I.P. – The “Complex Humanoid Interchangeable Parts”. A mechanized and headstrong Stikfas figure.

If you’ve ever created mini fantasy wars with your toys as a kid, you’ll want to get your hands on this beta. “To infinity and destroy!”

To get your beta key (they will go quickly) visit our MicroVolts beta sign-up page and grab one fast. For more information on MicoVolts you can visit their official website or you can also read our previous articles.

Star Trek Online (STO) is going classy in screenshots tweeted by Matt Highison, STO’s Lead Character Artist. The shots give us a peek at female characters in very elegant evening wear (Almost looks like lingerie), male characters looking crisp in suits (One even sporting the LeVar Burton visor), and both male and female in mercenary regalia.

For possible further tweets on STO you can follow Matt Highison on his official twitter.

frogster-interactive_posrgb
In the midst of preparing for their appearance at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany, Frogster Interactive has announced a new major shareholder in their company, Gameforge AG, who now holds 60% of the controlling share. In addition, Gameforge AG announced a takeover bid of 25 Euro per share. The company behind two highly-anticipated MMOs, Mythos and Tera Online, will be sustained as an independent company and keep all teams in all locations intact. Despite the bid, Frogster Interactive will be at GamesCom in full force to display their upcoming MMOs for the first time. With the release of their upcoming MMOs and its ‘Project X’ from Runes of Magic, Frogster still expects a strong and profitable expansion for 2011.

Burda:ic announced the release of an open beta test for Chaos Online">Land of Chaos Online (LOCO), their upcoming action strategy MMO.

LOCO is described as an interesting mix of real-time-strategy (RTS), third-person shooter and MMO. Set in a battlefield between the Armies of Hell and the Forces of Nature, players can choose a team from a bank of 30 heroes, all with different abilities and strategic possibilities. Think League of Legends, but players control the entire team instead of just one in an MMO environment. Each player will begin with three free heroes and all open beta testers will receive an additional three heroes for a 30-day period.

To sign up for the open beta you can visit LOCO’s website. To keep up to date on trailers and videos for all the MMO’s you care about, subscribe to us on YouTube.

ao2
In a post on the official Anarchy Online (AO) forums, Game Director Colin Cragg updated us on current AO updates and balances being implemented and what future ones will include. The post also credits and gives major thanks to the AO Community for helping out with a badly needed upgrade to the AO planetmap and new icons.

In addition to that, the suggested “Enforcer” changes were released to the Professionals for first looks on July 30, by which significant changes to the profession should ensue. Also announced was the initial testing this week of a brand new open PvP playfield with possible event potential. The update will include hotfixes to balance daily instanced missions and a bug where friendly auras effected enemies during duels.

For more information you can visit the AO forums.

xfire_logo2
In a public post to all Xfire members, Chris Kirmse, founder and lead engineer behind the website, announced that Xfire has been acquired by another company.

“Xfire was bought by new owners today. Most of the team that has built Xfire over the last six years is leaving. We enjoyed working for you for the last 127 releases and wish we could stay to create the next 127. Good bye, good luck, and game on. — The Xfire Team”

The message was later replaced by the announcement of the site’s new owners, Titan Gaming, who will of course rename themselves Xfire. Titan Gaming includes former IGE execs John Maffei, Dave Christensen and Brock Pierce (IGE founder).
