Today, Square Enix released the benchmark for its highly anticipated upcoming MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. The game will also be coming to the Playstation 3, so do not worry if the benchmark shows negative results on your PC. The game is scheduled to release on both platforms sometime in 2010.

Square Enix has released a video via its official YouTube channel, showcasing the character customization in Final Fantasy XIV. The cheesy video has two supposed spy’s (Square Enix Employees) infiltrating Square Enix headquarters, giving their report on the Final Fantasy XIV beta.

To celebrate the upcoming Soccer World Cup, Ntreev USA has announced the 2010 World Championship Party for its popular online golf game, Pangya. The event begins tomorrow and will finish on July 14.

Players can expect to receive many Soccer World Cup-themed items during the event, along with special ‘Magical Voice Clubs,’ which allow players to hear the voices of their Pangya character – a first in the games history.

Frogster and Runewaker have announced that the next update to Runes of Magic, titled ‘Warnorken Castle’ will feature an inovative pet system which will include over one hundred unique virtual pets. The update is scheduled for late June.

Players will be able to receive a pet once a specific quest is completed, which will reward the player with an egg. Once a pet has been summoned, a wide variety of skills will be available for your little companion. As the pet grows, it will be able to assist your character in battle.

It has been confirmed that players will be able to own a total of six pets, although only one can be summoned at a time. Two extra pet slots were confirmed for future updates.

Aventurine SA has announced that they will be offering a 14 day free trial for Darkfall Online. The free trial is the first of its kind since the game launched last year.

Zad Mehdawi, Executive Producer on Darkfall, commented;

“We wanted to give everyone the chance to try out our game. Darkfall being the top competitive MMOG in the market, is often mistakenly considered a niche game for hardcore players only. Darkfall was often considered as a non-casual friendly game, it seems that Aventurine SA are very keen to change Darkfall’s image while catering to both the hardcore and casual audiences.

Not too long ago, Capcom revealed its plans for the upcoming fiscal year, and to our surprise a Mega Man MMO was in the works. Today, Capcom and Neowiz have officially announced Rockman Online, an online Mega Man game for the PC. Currently, not too much information is known about this mysterious title, but we do know that both X and Zero will be featured.

GamesCampus has revealed the aircraft line-up for its upcoming, highly-anticipated MMOTPS, (Massively Multiplayer Online Third Person Shooter) WWII flight combat simulator, Heroes in the Sky. The Closed Beta is expected to commence this following June.

After several months in beta testing, NEXON has officially released the european version of its popular MMORPG, Mabinogi. The launch also brings the highly anticipated generation 3 storyline, which is based around the battle between Dark Knights and Paladins. Players can also expect to see a brand new cash shop, guild and wedding system.

As Final Fantasy XIV makes its transition from alpha to beta, the public are given another opportunity to apply for a testing position. It seems that the Playstation 3 beta will also begin shortly, as users are given the option to enter the code that was received when registering the Playstation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII through the Square Enix members site. Apart from access to the beta, the code will also grant the user an exclusive in-game item.
