Frogster has announced that it has secured the publishing rights to TERA and will bring the MMORPG to Europe in 2011. TERA received a decent reception at E3 2010, and now the game plan is to release the title in German, English and French to cater to the European market. TERA will be based on a subscription model.

Utilizing the Unreal Engine 3, TERA should run well on most gaming PCs purchased in the past few years. The game features six races and eight character classes, dodge and block attacks, greater character control during combat, and sensitive collision detection which will allow players to actively keep opponents at bay using swords and shields.

EU TERA fans can register for the newsletter on the temporary teaser site.

SOE has unleashed two new items to the EverQuest II Marketplace. The items are: Cloak of Woven Nature, and the Smoked Leatherskin Armor Crate. The second one sounds like it would be delicious with a side salad.

The “Cloak of Woven Nature” is green-tinted, Fabled, Attuneable, Lore-Equipped and Heirloom enchanted cloth with an embroidered leaf motif. Special effect is “Featherfall” which reduces max fall speed.

The “Smoked Leatherskin Armor Crate” is a crate containing a full set of Attuneable, Heirloom, Appearance-Only, No-Value, Level 20 cloth including anorak, mukluks, mitts, trousers and hood. Saying it’s “No-Value” doesn’t exactly instill the urge to buy!

According to a new interview on GamesIndustry.biz, CCP is prepared for its upcoming console MMO “Dust 514″ to do poorly at launch. Instead they are looking for a long-term audience. CCP’s senior director of business development Yohei Ishii said that the company will stick with Dust like they have stuck with Eve Online.

“If we don’t hit 6m in the first couple of months, that’s fine, that’s not what we’re really going for. We’re going for what we’ve seen in the CCP part of the world, and really with Eve, that it’s not about that one hit, buy the game and then you’re done. It’s about acquiring a user and keeping them for a year, two years, three years… If you look at the lifetime value of player in that sense, it’s so much more than that $60 you get from a box.”

Ishii is confident that the game’s business model will ensure profit over time. CCP is planning on annual expansion packs, and just like with EVE Online, the packs will be free.

Coming out of the Brighton Develop Conference, BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk delivered his keynote this morning, during which he indicated that BioWare is currently working on a “small scale MMO” and exploring other avenues. Sounds like we may see BioWare branching out to Flash, browser and iPhone games.

“We’re obviously working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, a big MMO. But we’re working on smaller MMO type games across the group – things all over the space.

We explored lots of different kinds of games. We did some Facebook stuff. We did an iPhone game for Mass Effect. It wasn’t the best one – people point that out to us. We learned the hard way. The learning there was you have to iterate. The team went back and made some more games that we never released that were way better. Large scale MMOs. Small scale MMOs. We’re going to continue to do triple-A console, but we’re also going to be exploring pretty aggressively.”

After his presentation, Eurogamer asked Zeschuk to describe the kind of game the “small scale MMO” may turn out to be.

“It can be almost anything,” he said. “I used to play this game called O Game, by Gameforge. The galaxy is spinning away on some server and you’re just poking at it in HTML and moving space ships around. That’s an MMO. So it could be almost anything.”
