SOEs DC Universe Online has some good news about one the icons of the game: Wonder Woman. The superheroine is getting some love from the devs and she looks great in the newly presented screenshots. Basically, we can see her displaying the powers she has, while fighting several villains in some action shots, and posing for eternity in a well presented collection of concept art and modeling pics.

The style DC Universe Online’s Wonder Woman shows seems to be perfect for the state-of-the-art physics engine the game uses, respecting the original comic look and details. We can get a glimpse of what she can do in the game as well, letting us all know you better not cross her path if you’re an enemy.

THE CHARACTER:
Wonder Woman is one of the classics of DC Universe. The superheroine created by William Moulton Marston first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in 1941. She’s an Amazon who represents the ideals of love, peace and sexual equality… a champion of justice. She has many powers, including superhuman strength, super-speed and the like. But what I like most is the Lasso of truth, a magic rope that forces anyone bound by it to tell  the truth.

Looking at the pics, I’m not sure if it’s better to fight her or to support her when the game ships… Who’s gonna pay attention to the combat when she’s  around?

Blizzard has released details regarding another new zone coming to World of Warcraft with the upcoming release of the Cataclysm expansion, the Twilight Highlands. It is important to note that this area is not in any way related to the Twilight film or book series. There are, as far as I can tell, no vampires involved. Rather, the name stems from the control of the area by the Twilight’s Hammer cultists. WoW players will know these as the nutters who are usually hanging around locations relevant to the Old Gods, and this is the reason that they have moved into the highlands. Apparently, the twisted and broken landscape and constant warfare suffusing the zone appeals to them, and they want to make the rest of Azeroth the same way. As ever, I’m sure it will be up to you heroes to foil their evil schemes.

Speaking of constant warfare, the other denizens of the Twilight Highlands include the Wildhammer dwarves, who will be aligned with the Alliance, and the Dragonmaw orcs, who will be aligned with the Horde. Undoubtedly, most of the quests each faction gives will be based on working against the opposing group, and that suggests there might even be some opportunities for contextual PvP.

Take a look at the intriguing screenshots of the area above, or visit the official site for more information.

TERA screenshots continue to bedazzle us each week, with this week’s focussing on the forested southeastern shore of Arun. Despite the soothing manner of such natural surroundings, the area doesn’t look entirely friendly and I’m sure we’ll see some of TERA’s active combat. I definitely continue to enjoy the look of TERA, and as I’ve mentioned before, it’s only better in motion. Perhaps not surprising for a game that has licensed the Unreal Engine 3.

Click above for slightly larger versions of the screenshots.

Turbine’s Dungeons and Dragons Online is making headlines with its upcoming add-on. Update 5 goes live June 28th. MMOCrunch.com was lucky enough to be let in on some exciting screens that gave us a taste of this new update.

DDO Update 5 centers around the new Carnival of Souls Adventure Pack which adds more missions, a new trophy system and a whole mess of new skills for all classes. Perhaps most importantly though, update 5 adds guild housing including the ability to buy airships for your guild and fully customize them. Airships – works for me! Outspark, creators of the recently mentioned Fists of Fu, have today announced a new action MMO called Divine Souls. The announcement trailer can be viewed above, while we have a collection of screenshots for you below. The premise appears to be a Japanese hack & slash game taken into the MMO genre with a focus on team-based dungeons and PvP arenas. The announcement mentions that both four player and eight player dungeons will be available, and arenas will run from 1v1 through to 4v4 and there will be some sort of larger guild-based battle system.
