Runescape Overview
Runescape is a free to play fantasy MMORPG that launched way back in 2001. While Runescape does have a story line to follow, the gameplay is very open ended with emphasis on PvP combat.
Runescape also made the leap from a above 2D view to full 3D in 2008. While Runescape remains free to play, it does offer a subscription option which will give the player more benefits such as a house and the ability to play full screen. Runescape is one of the most successful free MMORPG to date.

According to a recent survey by the NPD Group, Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited is the third most popular MMORPG, replacing Guild Wars.
