Where to buy or sell a WoW account?
Filed under: Guide, World Of Warcraft | No Comments »
The time might come eventually when you either want to quit playing World of Warcraft or maybe you just want to reroll, but not start over, so what do you do? Well if you’re not against selling your WoW account you can make a few bucks off of it depending what type of gear, titles, mounts and pets you have. Then use that money to buy yourself a brand new level 90 character. However selling an account isn’t as easy or very safe if you’ve never done it before.
- Where do I sell my account?
- Is the safe site?
- What info do I give the buyer?
These are just a few questions you might be asking yourself once you decided that selling your Warcraft account is the way to go. So lets start with the first question, “Where do I sell my account?”. There’s fortunately lots of places to sell your account, but when you boil it down there’s really only three types of sites.
- Auction sites
WoW Account Re-sellers
First up are reseller sites. These are businesses that buy and sell tons of account, but have to be able to resell the account they purchase from you to make a profit for themselves. The pro is that most likely if you pick a good reseller it will be a fairly easy process and you won’t have to worry about the payment being charge-backed or disputed. However the con is that you often get a very low price for your account since the re-sellers needs to be able to make a profit as well.
WoW Trading Forums
Next are trading forums, most of which are free and often have some form of verification to increase safety. My favorite by far, which also happens to be the largest RMT forum around is EpicNPC.com. You can find just about every MMO game and even MOBAs and online shooters there. They have three verification levels ranging from free to lost cost ($3) to high cost ($10) so as long as you stick to verified members you should be fine. The pro obviously is since you’re selling the wow account yourself you’ll make more money. The con that it’s not as safe, however if you sell it to someone that’s verified and has good feedback you really shouldn’t run into any issues.
WoW Auction Sites
Lastly we come to auction sites. Similar to trading forums you are again selling your account directly to a buyer, so once again the biggest pro is that you will make more money for your character. Currently there are two major auctions sites where you can sell your WoW account, but there are also a munch of smaller ones; PlayerAuctions and Armorybids.com. PA has much, much higher fees ranging from 14% – 19% of the sale price depending what you’re selling while Armorybids is the opposite ranging from 1-2% but does not provide a guarantee.
Both sites offer verification systems through phone and Paypal, so both are fairly safe. As with forums, you want to sell to someone that has been verified and has good reputation. I personally have sold over a dozen items and accounts on Armorybids over the years and have never had any issues.
Those are your three main choices when it comes to buying or selling your World of Warcraft account or really any online gaming account. It really comes down to whether or not you’re comfortable selling to a buyer directly or if you prefer to sell it to a business for a lesser amount of money.
I’ll post posting a guide to how to buy and sell safely in the near future.
